New Mobile Solution Improves Distribution Efficiency for Snack Food Manufacturer | 2008-06-05 | Microsoft |
| Snack food manufacturer Lance supported Direct Store Delivery (DSD) using a difficult-to-maintain mobile application running on eight-year-old devices, which were failing at an increasing rate. The company addressed those challenges by migrating to Apacheta RouteACE workflow software running on new Windows Mobile devices. Features such as bar code scanning, support for direct exchange of data, and fast startup and synchronization are enhancing customer service and increasing productivity for the company's 1,400 DSD salespeople, while the ability to change business rules and workflows without writing code makes it easier to support the solution. In addition, the solution's extensibility and the visibility it provides into how salespeople work put Lance in a strong position to deliver further gains in business efficiency and productivity.

Lexmark RFID Encoder and Laser Printer Combination Goes the Distance | 2008-03-01 | Lexmark International |
| Based in Southfield, Michigan, SAI Timing & Tracking is a world leader in the specialized industry of clocking athletes in marathons, triathlons and other events. It was difficult for them to keep track of each runner, including registration, distribution of numbered bibs and recording actual realtime race progress to the fraction of a second, with multiple split times recorded at several points and at the finish line, is its own world-class challenge. Advances in RFID (radio frequency identification) technology led SAI to conclude the time was right for a new approach. Gaining popularity for inventory-tracking applications, RFID tags are both inexpensive and accurate. SAI leveraged this technology and developed a world-class, cost-effective disposable RFID solution for participatory sports.

802.11n Design and Deployment Guidelines | 2008-01-01 | Cisco Systems |
| The industry has been excited about 802.11n from the day the suggestion was made that fast Ethernet speeds might be achievable in the world of Wi-Fi. Now, that standard is ready for mass consumption in the form of the Draft 2.0 version of 802.11n from the IEEE, widely approved by the 802.11 Working Group. Earlier pre-N consumer products offered, at best, no guarantee of interoperability, forcing early adopters into single-vendor solutions, all without the features and performance to justify enterprise-grade deployments. Draft 2.0 dramatically shifts this trend by bringing stability to the standard, making good on the promise of 802.11n. And the Wi-Fi Alliance has begun certifying interoperability between products that support the standard's high-water mark.
