whitepaper Understanding Windows Mobile Security2010-07-06 JupiterMedia
One topic the user really needs to understand when deploying Windows Mobile applications is security. Often, developers spend a lot of time developing and testing their applications on emulators. However, applications that are working perfectly on emulators often break mysteriously on real devices. A large part of this can be attributed to the lack of understanding of the security policies implemented on Windows Mobile devices. In this paper, the user will learn about the security provisioning of Windows Mobile devices and how he or she can provision the own Windows Mobile device using the Device Security Manager (included with Visual Studio 2008).

whitepaper From Voice over IP to Unified Communications: Simplify System Management2009-11-10 Shoretel
Telephone system manageability depends to a great extent on the underlying architecture of the voice system. Some platforms are extensions of legacy voice switches, others are built on top of legacy data technologies, and still others were designed from the ground up for converged voice and data.

The architectural approach for integrating new systems has serious implications for management, because the different components of the consolidated voice system-such as voicemail, network call routing, and client applications-are managed by different tools. In this paper you will learn more about how various architectural approaches impacts overall system manageability.

whitepaper Demo Abstract: Measuring Foot Pronation Using RFID Sensor Networks2009-11-06 Association for Computing Machinery
Running efficiency is an important factor to consider in order to avoid injury. In particular, foot pronation, the angle of the foot as it hits the ground, is a common cause for many types of injuries among runners. Though pronation is common, diagnosing pronation is difficult and imprecise. Currently there is no method of diagonsis which can quantify the severity of pronation. This paper proposes using WISP (Wireless Identification and Sensing Platform) sensors to help identify and quantify foot pronation.

whitepaper Wildlife and Environmental Monitoring Using RFID and WSN Technology2009-11-06 Association for Computing Machinery
Wireless Sensor Networks enable scientists to collect information about the environment with a granularity unseen before, while providing numerous challenges to software designers. Since sensor devices are often powered by small batteries, which take considerable effort to replace, it is of major importance to use energy carefully. The paper presents two efficient ways of extending the lifetime of such systems: an adaptive duty cycling protocol and an adaptive data management protocol.

whitepaper Throughput and Capacity of MIMO WiMAX2009-11-04 Vienna University of Technology
The work in this paper presents physical layer throughput measurement results of a WiMAX link implemented according to IEEE 802.16-2004. The measurements were carried out in an alpine and an urban scenario using the Vienna MIMO Testbed. The paper compares the measured throughput to three different theoretical bounds: the channel capacity, the mutual information, and a so-called "Achievable throughput" which takes inherent system losses into account. Furthermore, the impact of different channel codes and channel estimators on the measured throughput is analyzed.

whitepaper Windows Phones and Unified Communications2009-11-01 Microsoft
Are you thinking about unified communications in your business? You need to be.

In today's world, two trends are reshaping the way we work: 1) all workers are becoming mobile workers, and 2) highly effective collaboration has become every business's competitive edge in the 21st century. The key to better collaboration is unified communications, and a cornerstone to any unified communications strategy is the smart phone. This paper explains what unified communications is, why it is essential, and why Windows® Phones are ideally suited to serve as the "mobile connection" in a unified communication environment.
