whitepaper The Case for Corporate Wireless Access2009-08-07 Unwired Business
This paper details the benefits of delivering business and corporate wireless network services in the 3.5 GHz and apparatus licensed spectrum, and the advantages over traditional wireline services such as Frame-relay, ISDN, Leased Lines, Single-pair High-speed Digital Subscriber Line (SHDSL) and Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL). A number of companies in Australia offer business grade Internet and point-to-point services using spectrum operating in the 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz spectrum bands. These spectrum bands are unmanaged as they have been reserved for public use and are generally known as class licensed or public spectrum.

whitepaper BlackBerry Internet Service2009-07-09 Research In Motion
The BlackBerry Internet Service uses the security of the wireless network that it connects to. Email messages that are sent between the BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry device are not encrypted. However, email messages that are sent between the BlackBerry Internet Service and messaging server can be encrypted using SSL encryption. SSL encryption can also be used by the BlackBerry Browser and other applications on BlackBerry device to help protect data when one connect to the Internet (for example, while shopping and banking online).

whitepaper Modeling Energy Efficiency in Wireless Internet Communication2009-05-25 Nokia
For wireless mobile Internet users the length of the battery life is one of the most important performance factors. The energy efficiency of the data transmission over radio is a key component affecting the battery lifetime. This paper investigates WLAN energy consumption in network communication on a Mobile handset. The paper introduces an energy model that allows analysis and simulation of the energy efficiency of the Internet protocols on a Wireless Network Interface, and has extended the NS-2 simulation platform to allow investigating the energy consumption of the Radio Modem and the Power Amplifier in WLAN 802.11g network interface of a mobile device. The paper has also validated the model against measurements on real wireless hardware, and show that the simulation results closely match the real world behavior.

whitepaper An Efficient Integrated Routing Protocol for Interconnecting Mobile Ad Hoc Network and the Internet2009-04-01 Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology
There has been a massive growth in wireless communications in recent years. Many wireless communication techniques are commercially available like Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and GSM to name a few. Access to the Internet via wireless communication devices has become an important issue due to the trend of an all-IP network in the 4G wireless networks. One such wireless technology gaining popularity is Wireless Mobile ad hoc Network, which is an infrastructure-less, autonomous, stand alone and self organizing network. It can be simply and flexibly deployed in almost any environment. However it has limited wireless coverage and limited connectivity. Mobile IP and IP micro-mobility protocols enable the mobile host to access Internet and change points of attachment without losing the connection.

whitepaper Making WiFi Work in Outdoor Industrial Enviroments2009-02-19
This paper explores the challenges faced and lessons learned when a major intermodal transportation firm deployed WiFi networks in 74 of their rail classification yards.

This paper goes into specific performance issues such as co-channel interference, attenuation, and contention loss and presents recommendations for certification, authentication and encryption.

This information can benefit the person who is tasked with diagnosing why existing outdoor industrial WiFi infrastructes are not performing as exepected or the person who is looking for a new solution to their outdoor industrial WiFi needs.

whitepaper Multi-Hop Wireless Networking With OSPF: MPR-Based Routing Extensions for MANETs2009-02-02 French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control
Incorporating multi-hop wireless networks in the IP infrastructure is an effort to which a growing community participates. One instance of such activity is the extension of the routing protocol OSPF, for operation on MANETs. Such extension allows OSPF, the most widely deployed interior gateway routing protocol on the Internet, to work on heterogeneous networks encompassing both wired and wireless routers. The latter may self-organize as multi-hop wireless subnetworks, and may be mobile. Three solutions have been proposed for this extension, among which two based on techniques derived from Multi-Point Relaying (MPR) techniques and OLSR.
