whitepaper Sprint and U.S. Financial Life Understand the Value of Teamwork2005-01-21 Sprint
U.S. Financial Life was on a roll. The insurance company's rating, which jumped from B+ to A+ in six years, contributed to a growth spurt of 20% last year and is currently projecting growth of 12% for this year. To expand capacity for U.S. Financial Life, they determined that in order to best manage business growth, they needed a new telecom system. Their old PBX machine was cumbersome to work on, and they needed a system that would scale with their growth while being easy to maintain. After analyzing U.S. Financial Life's business and communications network, the Sprint team proposed a complete turnkey solution that even the company's non-technical staff could understand.

whitepaper Centralized Call Processing and Survivable Remote Site Telephony0000-00-00 Cisco Systems
When Cisco Systems replaced its traditional PBX systems with Cisco CallManager clusters in 2000, employees on campuses worldwide began using Cisco IP phones and Cisco IP SoftPhone software. The infrastructure and support requirements of this distributed model proved prohibitive. Another shortcoming of the distributed call processing architecture for Cisco was the impracticality of deploying value-added voice applications. Cisco met the challenge by developing Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRS Telephony), now a feature of Cisco IOS Software. With the introduction of SRS Telephony, sites in each Cisco region were able to centralize call processing in a small number of major hubs.

whitepaper 3Com Case Study: Aviva Life Insurance Company (USA)0000-00-00 3Com
A subsidiary of Aviva plc, one of the 10 largest insurance groups in the world, Aviva Life Insurance has grown quickly to become a leader in the annuity and life insurance industry. By 2002, however, the insurer's growth had overtaxed the capabilities of the Avaya PBX systems it inherited in its headquarters and Buffalo, NY office. The phone systems' complexity prevented Aviva from executing the moves, adds, and changes needed to support its operations, requiring the firm to contract vendor service technicians. Aviva chose 3Com SuperStack 3 NBX Networked Telephony Solution, which delivers robust, full-featured business communications for up to 1500 devices (lines/stations).

There is a dire need in many countries to modernize rural telephone billing systems. In India recently, systems integrator Sai InfoSystem chose Intel Corporation to help it fill this need for one of India's major telecom providers. whitepaper Meridian 1 PBX and Remote Office 9150 Deliver Terrestrial and Wireless VoIP and Data Connectivity to Infomedia0000-00-00 Nortel Networks
In recent years, Infomedia deployed a Telstra-managed fibre optic LAN with a 1 Gigabit feed between two pivotal buildings at Narrabeen - its software development and data centres - and a 100 Megabit fibre optic connection to Telstra's BigPond Internet service, but the company's overall communications system was no longer adequate to meet the growing company's needs. Infomedia decided PBX-to-PBX communications was the best option, in terms of viability and return on investment. Working with Nortel Networks channel partner 3D Networks, Infomedia installed two Meridian 1 Option 11Cs at Narrabeen and one each in Melbourne and Perth.

whitepaper A GSM Gateway for Heavy Traffic in a Difficult Telecom Environment0000-00-00 QuesCom
For its internal telephony and IT solutions, the French subsidiary of an American multinational is dependent on the choices of its head office. To connect the QuesCom 400 between the PBX and the operator's bridgehead, the telecoms manager did not need to touch the PBX. It took just a few seconds to disconnect and then reconnect the PBX's ISDN line. As soon as the QuesCom 400 had been connected, all the functions of the PBX were instantly available again. The equipment room is in the basement and out of GSM range. The QuesCom 400 was therefore placed on the fourth floor in a computer bay where GSM coverage is satisfactory.
