whitepaper Korenix Embedded Systems - White Paper: Industrial Router Firewall and VPN Platform2009-08-21 Korenix Technology
Off late Industrial Control and communications applications, the networks allowing these systems to be controlled and communicate are growing larger and more complex. Designing a network built on embedded systems technology requires that the embedded platform be robust, secure and manageable as commercial and management networks converge with industrial control and communications systems. The purpose of this white paper is to give an overview of the hardware features of the Korenix JetBox 9500 series, and how it can be implemented as an industrial embedded platform to facilitate the requirements of complex networks that require industrial grade routers, firewalls and VPN servers.

whitepaper TANDBERG and Packet Loss2009-06-17 Tandberg
This paper is intended to describe the packet loss robustness features available with TANDBERG's products. These features include: Intelligent Packet Loss RecoveryTF (IPLRTF), Downspeeding, Quality of Service (QoS). The above mentioned features are all available on the following products: TANDBERG MCU 16+16 / 8+8, TANDBERG GW, TANDBERG 8000, TANDBERG 7000, TANDBERG 6000, TANDBERG 2500, TANDBERG 1000, TANDBERG 880, TANDBERG 800, TANDBERG 550, TANDBERG 500. The IPLR feature is not intended to replace Quality of Service (QoS) techniques which may be employed on IP networks to reserve bandwidth or set precedence on video traffic. However, in the rare event that QoS techniques fail, IPLR is designed to overcome transient packet loss situations and reduce the impact these losses may have on the current video traffic. To fully understand what IPLR offers, an understanding of QoS and video compression are recommended. This paper briefly describes each before describing the details of TANDBERG's IPLR.

whitepaper A Decentralized VPN Service Over Generalized Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks2009-06-14 University of Tokyo
This paper presents a decentralized VPN service that can be built over generalized mobile ad-hoc networks (Generalized MANETs), in which topologies can be represented as a time-varying directed multigraph. The paper addresses wireless ad-hoc networks and overlay ad-hoc networks as instances of Generalized MANETs. The paper first proposes an architecture to operate on various kinds of networks through a single set of operations. Then, it designs and implement a decentralized VPN service on the proposed architecture. Through the development and operation of a prototype system the paper implemented, it found that the proposed architecture makes the VPN service applicable to each instance of Generalized MANETs, and that the VPN service makes it possible for unmodified applications to operate on the networks.

whitepaper The Impact of Virtualization on Application Delivery Over the WAN2009-05-09 Streamcore
Although virtualization has received a lot of attention in the trade publications over the last couple of years, it is not a new concept. IT organizations have been implementing virtualized technologies such as Virtual LANs (VLANs) and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for at least twenty years. Most of the recent interest in virtualization has centered on server and desktop virtualization. In a survey that was completed in August 2008, 205 IT professionals were asked to indicate by the end of 2009 how much deployment their organization will have made of these forms of virtualization. IT organizations have a significant interest in deploying both server and desktop virtualization.

whitepaper SSL VPN Grows Up: Time to Demand More From Your Next SSL VPN2009-05-01 WatchGuard Technologies
Years ago, businesses started turning to SSL VPNs to reduce the cost and complexity of remote access. Early SSL VPNs focused on relieving IT pain associated with IPSec VPN clients, using web browsers to help more remote workers reach common business applications. This value proposition prompted many companies to rethink legacy VPNs and launch successful SSL remote access deployments. Since then, business needs have continued to evolve. Today's workforce is more mobile than ever - demanding access to a wide variety of business applications and systems, from increasingly diverse devices and locations. IT departments must now find more efficient, effective ways to satisfy ever-changing connectivity needs.
