Taridium Displaces Legacy Telephony Solution at TT Electronics | 2009-07-23 | taridium |
| TT Electronics integrated manufacturing services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TT electronics plc, a British owned global electronics group, with 23 main manufacturing sites worldwide, 7600 employees and revenue of £545m (US$1 billion) in 2007. In 1997 TT Electronics implemented a Toshiba phone system. By 2008 the phone system had run out of space for adding new users. The company started taking phones away from existing employees just to make sure the new employees had a phone to use. The Taridium interface immediately changed their perception though. They could now manage their PBX themselves and hand daily maintenance tasks off to an administrator. Due diligence motivated in depth comparisons with an array of open source VoIP companies such as Fonality, Switchvox, Trixbox and Digium.

Escape Communications Selects Flynn Systems' OnTAP Embedded JTAG Solution | 2009-04-07 | |
| Escape Communications of Torrance, CA (www.escapecom.com), a trusted provider of point-to-point microwave radio Indoor Units (IDUs) for commercial telecommunications OEMs and custom advanced signal processing designs for major space and defense contractors, sought to improve their physical user interface for testing, especially during the manufacturing process. Having already developed a test executive with an intuitive GUI, Escape then needed to eliminate proprietary third party test fixtures, some of which were outdated and unreliable, and integrate reliable, easy to use, and cost-effective test capabilities into their new Automated Test Board (ATB) design. Escape Communications asked Flynn Systems to help them tackle the challenge of embedding boundary scan tests into their ATB design through the use of readily available, off-the-shelf firmware in order to minimize customization and engineering development costs.

Bremond Independent School District Solves Wi-Fi Coverage Issues With Low-Cost D-Link PoE Switches and Access Points | 2009-04-01 | D-Link |
| Bremond ISD's older wireless LAN was difficult to expand and manage. The system didn't support Power over Ethernet (PoE) because the technology was not standardized at the time they purchased it. They had to wait months before they could deploy the wireless Access Points [APs], because the power wasn't in place. They found out that D Link offers a managed wireless PoE solution. Bremond bought three DES-1228P Web Smart 24-Port PoE switches and 20 DWL-3140 Web Smart 802.11g PoE Thin Access Points. Bremond's client connections with the D-Link equipment support Super G, which gives them a 50MB duplex connection (Super G is Atheros Communications' proprietary frame-bursting, compression and channel bonding technology that improves IEEE 802.11g wireless LAN performance).

Colorado's Wiggins Telephone Association Offers Rural America True, End-to-End Fiber Optic Internet Access Up to 100Mbps With D-Link Equipment | 2009-02-23 | D-Link |
| Wiggins Telephone Association's copper telephone network was at the end of its 30-year lifecycle. Demand for new data services was placing new burdens on the existing telco network. Many of their customers were still using dial-up connections, and Wiggins was not able to deploy broadband services like DSL in many areas because of copper limitations. Another regional telecom provider, Golden West Internet Solutions, suggested that Wiggins install D-Link routers in their local service area. After testing several routers from various manufacturers, Wiggins settled on D-Link's WBR-1310 Wireless G Router. The WBR-1310 connects to an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) card provided by Calix (which is Wiggins' transport provider).

High School Networking Class Builds Virtual Computing Grid From Old Computers With D-Link DES-3526 Switch | 2009-02-02 | D-Link |
| The Abington Senior High School networking course found some unique networking challenges within their Cisco network that could be solved with a new switch and a grid computing configuration. For the purposes here, "Grid computing," describes a cluster of computers connected via Ethernet, which share resources to perform large tasks. The hardware the class was connecting into the Ethernet cluster was approximately five to eight years old, with a maximum of 512MB RAM on each machine and 400MHz per processor. The class opted for a D-Link DES-3526 Managed 24-Port switch. It was easy to install, fit perfectly into their rack, and integrated well with their existing Cisco and 3Com equipment.
