  It is expected for the next years that any nontrivial device will contain some degree of embedded processing and communications capability. In this new environment, the focus shifts from individual devices to an "Environmental user interface," acting as a contextual user access and information delivery engine across multiple interconnected devices. As an intermediate step to reach this goal, the paper presents the Intelligent Routing Architecture (INTERA), whose core is a logical router responsible for checking network status and determining the best route(s) for packet forwarding. From INTERA concept, the paper presents some challenges to be tackled in order to achieve fully dependable, scalable, and ubiquitous computer systems.

A successful platform for home networking must put together simple interfaces for the users and sophisticated mechanisms for managing the distribution of the desired broadband services. This paper proposes mechanisms to support flows with different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements in a home network whose architectural model has been defined in the framework of the European IST ePerSpace project.

  This paper summarizes design of a high-bandwidth nonlinear adaptive attitude command system for an unmanned helicopter test bed, and presents an evaluation of the controller in both nonlinear simulation and flight test. The attitude command system features a dynamic inversion control law augmented by an on-line neural network. The design is cast in an output feedback setting. The inverting control law is based on a simple linear model of the helicopter and its actuators at the hover condition. An error observer-based method for output feedback design uses either a proportional plus derivative, or a proportional, integral and derivative form for the linear compensator.

Despite the emergence of completely decentralized and efficient peer-to-peer techniques for content distribution, there have not been similarly efficient, accurate, and decentralized mechanisms for content discovery based on approximate search keys. This paper presents a scalable and efficient peer-to-peer system called Cubit with a new search primitive that can efficiently find the k data items with keys most similar to a given search key.
