Orange- customer case study | 2009-09-08 | Pitney Bowes |
| The ability to leverage location intelligence was critical to the successful rollout of our 3G network as it enabled us to identify potential customers and where they would likely use our enhanced third generation services. As our decision making process was much more informed by location-based data, we could build our network in areas that will serve our customers most effectively.

The Impact of Virtualization on Application Delivery Over the WAN | 2009-05-09 | Streamcore |
| Although virtualization has received a lot of attention in the trade publications over the last couple of years, it is not a new concept. IT organizations have been implementing virtualized technologies such as Virtual LANs (VLANs) and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for at least twenty years. Most of the recent interest in virtualization has centered on server and desktop virtualization. In a survey that was completed in August 2008, 205 IT professionals were asked to indicate by the end of 2009 how much deployment their organization will have made of these forms of virtualization. IT organizations have a significant interest in deploying both server and desktop virtualization.

Final Cut Pro Media Plug-In | 2009-02-12 | Signiant |
| As timelines get shorter and people in the industry become specialized, collaborating and editing large media files in geographically dispersed locations is increasingly common in today's non-linear editing environments. Signiant's integration with Apple's Final Cut Pro (FCP) non linear editing system replaces the need to move large media projects across the WAN using FTP-based solutions or expensive point-to-point hardware-based file acceleration technologies. Within the Final Cut Pro interface, users can select the Signiant Transfer option.

Site-to-Site Channel Bonding | 2009-02-10
| Site-to-site channel bonding enables two or more sites equipped with specialized WAN optimization controllers to provide WAN link aggregation load balancing and failover capabilities which communicate over multiple networks using the combined throughput of multiple and diverse WAN links at multiple sites. This technology allows local and remote sites to send and receive large data files as if they were directly connected by a physical high-capacity link - at a fraction of the cost of supporting such a link. The WAN optimization controllers used for site-to-site channel bonding are located between the LAN network and WAN connections at each site.

A Guide to WAN Application Delivery for the SME Market | 2009-02-10
| Today's Small-to-Medium sized Enterprises (SME) are undergoing the same IT evolution as their large enterprise counterparts, only on a smaller scale. For SMEs, WAN reliability, flexible scalability, performance and ease of management are as essential to their WAN infrastructure as they are to a large enterprise. SMEs are able to achieve efficiencies and competitive advantages through the adoption of affordable, yet feature-rich WAN optimization technologies. On the other hand, without suitable technology, they will be competitively disadvantaged. Therefore, choosing the appropriate WAN Optimization solution is critical to ensure efficient WAN infrastructure to meet today's requirements, while also ensuring the right path for tomorrow's business needs.

Overcoming the Challenges of WAN Application Delivery | 2009-02-10
| Today's Small-to-Medium size Enterprises (SME) rely heavily on their business applications being sent reliably over the Internet, outside of their LAN. These applications can include inventory, customer relationship management, sales, accounting and other critical applications that are the livelihood of a company's operations. Therefore, quick and reliable delivery of these applications to users is a major challenge for today's IT departments. To achieve greater productivity, local employees, telecommuters, business partners and customers must all have unhindered access to critical applications. Any delay in delivering these applications, or deficiency in the availability and security of the applications, can cause user productivity to suffer and adversely affect business profitability.

Overcoming ISP Network Challenges | 2009-02-10
| Organizations continue to battle problems related to delivering high-performing, continuous uptime and high-availability for applications such as VoIP, Outlook Web Access, VPN, Web Portals, and others, putting increased stress upon ISP links. An affordable approach to address these issues is the use of multi-homed connections to aggregate multiple low-cost ISP links. This approach avoids the high costs and complexity of using a Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) solution. Critical applications that had previously been hosted at home offices are now being accessed over the WAN, creating new concerns over reliable and secure access, along with how to assign appropriate and cost-effective bandwidth allocation. WAN connectivity failures and traffic congestion have become common problems that impact these business-critical applications.

Everything You Need to Know About Network Failover | 2009-02-10
| The Internet has become so pervasive and integral for conducting business and communicating with customers, partners and employees, that network performance, high-availability, and uptime are required for running the day-to-day operations of an organization. Network downtime not only costs money and loss of productivity, it can also adversely affect a company's reputation among customers and partners. For many companies, their entire business strategy depends on how well its network performs. There are many events that can cause a network or site to go down, such as natural disasters, security attacks, a backhoe cutting a network line, or failing network infrastructure.
