Design and Implementation of the Network Server Based on SIP Communication Protocol | 2007-11-25 | World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology |
| SIP is a kind of application-layer control signaling protocol for creating, modifying and finishing the conversation with one or more participants. It has several advantages such as simple, good expansibility and scalability, and so on. Based on the SIP, in this paper a design and implementation scheme of SIP server system is proposed, and the scheme can realize the functions of IP phone such as calling, billing and so on, and finally based on the standards and interfaces of JainSip API which was provided by SUN company the design scheme is realized.

Live Webcast: Lessons from Independent Research: Choosing an SSL VPN | 2007-01-19 01:00:27 | Aventail |
| Many companies are choosing SSL VPNs over IPSec-based systems because there's no client software to install and because they offer more granular access to enterprise applications. But with so many options to choose from, how can you tell which SSL VPN is right for your organization?
Join this live TechRepublic Webcast, featuring analyst Robert Whiteley of Forrester Research, to learn what you need to consider when evaluating SSL VPNs. Author of the respected Forrester Wave report on SSL VPN appliances, Whiteley will discuss:

Towards Stateless Core: Improving SIP Proxy Scalability | 2007-01-10 | Georgia Institute of Technology |
| The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specified the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) standard. This standard uses the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to setup and teardown multimedia sessions through a potentially large chain of proxies. The IMS standard allows some core elements to be deployed as transaction stateful or stateless proxies. Moreover, SIP standard allows proxies decide when to store transaction information on a per request basis. This paper examines the implementation of these core IMS proxies. It proposes an algorithm that determines for each incoming request when to store transaction information. The goal of this algorithm is to increase throughput by reducing the number of transactions without compromising call setup times.

The MS-CHAP Version 1 Authentication Protocol Has Been Deprecated in Windows Vista | 2006-12-09 01:00:17 | Microsoft |
| The MicroSoft Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol version 1 (MS-CHAP v1) has been deprecated in Windows Vista. This paper discusses this change and provides methods to work around it. In Windows Vista, Microsoft has removed MS-CHAP v1 from the list of authentication protocols for dial-up connections, for broadband (PPPoE) connections, and for Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections. This change has been made because MS-CHAP version 2 (MS-CHAP v2) provides better security. |
