Suitability of DHT-Based Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol for Wireless Distributed Services | 2009-07-19 | University of Oulu |
| Providing both analytical and empirical results, it analyzes the suitability of Distributed Hash Tables (DHT)-based Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol (P2PSIP) overlay networking as a substrate for wireless, distributed multimedia services. Session initiation is just one application of this framework. First, it discusses the potential of P2PSIP for different applications and analyze the security and reliability of P2PSIP. Second, it presents prototype mobile P2PSIP implementation and a P2PSIPbased distributed calendar application for wireless user groups. Third, it measures average DHT hop count and retransmission count in up to 2000-node P2PSIP overlays. Fourth, it analyzes numerically the scalability and robustness of P2PSIP and client-server SIP in some generic networking scenarios. standardized peer-to-peer networking protocol for distributed Internet applications, both fixed-line and mobile.

Why Install IPv6 Instead Of IPv4? | 2009-01-16 | Global Knowledge |
| The original framers of ARPAnet did not foresee the growth of what is now known as the Internet, or that the IPv4 address structure would fall short of the addresses needed, or all the new devices that would need IP addressing. Consequently, the IPv4 addresses are being exhausted. IPv6 satisfies the increasingly complex requirements of hierarchical addressing that IPv4 does not provide. This white paper explains why a transition from IPv4 to IPv6 can be beneficial.

MPLS: What is it? What can it do for me? | 2009-01-07 | Global Knowledge |
| Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) began as a way for routers to short-cut the time-consuming process of treating each packet independently, looking up the target IP address each time and in every router along the path. MPLS streamlines the packet forwarding process by introducing a label, assigned by the ingress edge router, into the packet. This white paper will teach you what MPLS is and how it can help provide your customers with flexible networking services.
