Grand Canyon Skywalk Secures Spectacular Tourist Attraction Via Satellite Connection With D-Link IP Surveillance Solution | 2009-03-06 | D-Link |
| The Grand Canyon Skywalk needed a video surveillance solution to monitor visitors and retail operations at their Grand Canyon glass walkway. The location includes retail shops, gift shops, a photo department and ticketing facilities. The site would need to be monitored remotely from their operations center in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is approximately 260 miles away. The Skywalk team looked at some cameras from a D-Link competitor but quickly dismissed the option because they lacked PoE capabilities. With PoE, one can place cameras anywhere they like, as long as they have access to Ethernet wiring. The D-Link IP surveillance solution helps the Grand Canyon Skywalk monitor and review incidents with ease, clarity and accuracy.

High School Networking Class Builds Virtual Computing Grid From Old Computers With D-Link DES-3526 Switch | 2009-02-02 | D-Link |
| The Abington Senior High School networking course found some unique networking challenges within their Cisco network that could be solved with a new switch and a grid computing configuration. For the purposes here, "Grid computing," describes a cluster of computers connected via Ethernet, which share resources to perform large tasks. The hardware the class was connecting into the Ethernet cluster was approximately five to eight years old, with a maximum of 512MB RAM on each machine and 400MHz per processor. The class opted for a D-Link DES-3526 Managed 24-Port switch. It was easy to install, fit perfectly into their rack, and integrated well with their existing Cisco and 3Com equipment.

3Com Case Study: Three-Gorge University (China) | 2009-01-01 | 3Com |
| Three-Gorge University is a public full-time undergraduate university in China. It has three main schools - medical, teachers' and engineering - with 15 departments teaching 45 undergraduate and special disciplines. The university's various departments have a growing number of Local Area Networks (LAN) and applications running on them. This is creating an increasing need to share information and resources between the various departments. There is also a challenge to provide the appropriate information and statistics to the right people to allow them to take full advantages of the existing technology. Three-Gorge University campus network deployed Gigabit Ethernet technology from 3Com. The core campus network is connected with fiber and uses Gigabit Ethernet technology, providing necessary backbone bandwidth.

Unique 3Com Network Jacks Save Time and Money for Arizona School District | 2009-01-01 | 3Com |
| The 13,800 + student Tempe (AZ) Elementary School District No. 3 recently purchased 1,400 new computers - two for every classroom in its 24 elementary and middle schools. The single Ethernet port in each room was already in use by existing PCs. With the wiring closets at capacity, the district would have had to pay almost $1,000 per classroom to bring the new computers online. School deployed 3Com's Power over Ethernet Single-Port and Multiport Midspan Solutions attached to Cisco 2900, 3500 and 5000 switches in wiring closets that brings all the academic power of school databases, server-based educational software, and the Internet to the school system's classrooms.

Korean University Upgrades to World-Class 10-Gigabit Network With 3Com Switch 8800 Terabit Switch | 2009-01-01 | 3Com |
| Preparing South Korea for the future is Kyonggi University's heritage and its mission. Founded in 1947 to train kindergarten teachers, the school has grown to include undergraduate and graduate programs ranging from the arts and humanities to architecture and engineering. University needed to upgrade its data infrastructure. Data bottlenecks interfered with the administrative system that manages the university's daily operations, delaying vital functions from course scheduling to payroll processing. With its VAR, Joongang Network System, Kyonggi University evaluated products from Cisco Systems (Catalyst 6500), Hitachi (GS4000), Avaya, and Force10. After careful comparison, the university found that only 3Com offered the combination of established reliability, high value, and future-proofed performance it required.

3Com Switch 7700 Elevates Academics of Leading Korean University | 2009-01-01 | 3Com |
| Located in the seaport city of Incheon, the first Korean city to open to westerners, Inha University today is incorporating western-style education into its curriculum. Previously, Inha relied on an ATM network consisting of equipment from a hodgepodge of vendors, including Cisco, Enterasys, Nortel, and 3Com. Although Inha used Gigabit Ethernet links in pockets of the 20-building, 10,000-node infrastructure, the LAN was unable to efficiently deliver the high-bandwidth files the school's academic programs required. After witnessing a demonstration of the Switch 7700 and comparing it with competing Enterasys and Nortel products, Inha University chose the feature-rich Gigabit Ethernet switch as the backbone of its network upgrade.
