whitepaper Enterprise Solutions Using Java-PHP2007-06-07 Caucho Technology
LiveProcess is the leader in emergency preparedness' planning for the healthcare industry. As the project moved forward, several of the existing functions and new feature requirements could be implemented better as background tasks. However, PHP on Apache is a user-initiated programming environment and requires user input to run PHP. As an experienced Java developer knew that Java could handle the background tasks through multithreading and wanted the added Java benefits of integrated security and connection pooling. LiveProcess deployed Combined Java-PHP architecture for their solution. The Java-PHP bridge consists of Java calling a running instance of Apache/PHP via RMI, but this would be cumbersome to deploy in a production environment.

whitepaper Point-to-Point Connectivity in the 4.9 GHz Public Safety Band2007-05-02 Motorola
The 4.9 GHz public safety spectrum allows authorized entities to deploy critical services without interference, including permanent "Hot-Spot" systems in high-interference RF areas or temporary incident command centers at ground-zero sites. The Motorola MOTOwi4 PTP 49400 bridges can provide immediate, intelligent interoperability across agencies, regions and networks and can seamlessly integrate with Motorola's Point-to-Multipoint and Mesh solutions. PTP 49400 systems offer up to 35 Mbps data throughput, delivering high-bandwidth voice, video and data traffic for government agencies and first responders alike. Typically, the return on investment is less than one year - faster than the required licensing time for permanent point-to-point installations.

whitepaper High Speed Ethernet: Promoting Openness in Hybrid Control2006-10-19 Endress+Hauser
Many tasks in Process Automation require a combination of continuous and sequential control. Developments in Ethernet-based backbones, however, are increasingly addressing the problems of high-speed, real-time Factory Automation only. There is one exception: FOUNDATION Fieldbus High Speed Ethernet. This paper shows, on the basis of practical examples, how High Speed Ethernet supports hybrid control through standard and flexible function blocks, provides innovative and powerful solutions by bridging fieldbus networks, and allows the use of both FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS solutions when the application demands it.

whitepaper A Practical Approach to Bridging Domain Specific Languages With UML Profiles2005-10-10 Universit? de Nantes
This paper considers that there are two important views of Model Driven Engineering. One consists in starting with a well known standard universal modeling language like UML 2.0 and to define restrictions and extensions to this all-purpose language by the way of so-called "Profiles". The other possibility consists in using small, well-focused Domain Specific Languages and to deal with the coordination between these. The paper will not discuss here the pros and cons of both approaches but it will consider that each has many supporters while the debate is going on. UML CASE tools currently produce a significant legacy, mainly of UML profiles. Bridges between both modeling worlds will surely be most needed in the future.
