College Prep Learns How to Save and Solves Remote Access Issues With Virtualization | 2008-03-06 | Microsoft |
| Trinity Valley School is a K - 12 college preparatory school consisting of 940 students and 140 employees. The faculty, students, and staff needed to access their applications and critical information to effectively work off campus. They were also in search of an easier method of deploying software and re-imaging the workstations, as they planned to do so annually. Trinity Valley School hired Microsoft Certified Partner and Small Business Specialist NetVision Consulting to design and deploy a presentation virtualization solution, and terminal services to access the school's infrastructure. Although the school considered Linux as an option, it lacked adequate staffing and the expertise to deploy and maintain the Linux technology. So Windows Server 2008 looked like the best match.

Project Red Hook: Implementing IBM Virtual Client Solution (VCS) at the IBM Center for Microsoft Technologies | 2008-03-01 | IBM |
| The IBM Virtual Client Solution (VCS) provides an environment where traditional desktops are replaced by virtual clients. A virtual client is essentially an image of a desktop computer (a virtual desktop) stored on a central server. The image of the virtual desktop is accessed through a remote connection from a client device (for example, a thin client or another desktop PC), but otherwise behaves almost identically to a desktop PC. A virtual desktop can be assigned to a single, exclusive user, or it may belong to a pool of images available to users on a first-come, first-serve basis. Both types of images - private and pool - can be used within the same infrastructure. | |||

Fast Remote Access to Corporate Data | 2008-01-01 | Microsoft |
| Working out in the field can be a solitary proposition. Frequently, such workers, whether in sales or service, are on their own. While they have appointments to keep and quotas to fill, they frequently have more control over their own time and efforts than most office workers do. Their work requires dedication and focus. At the same time, because they are frequently the face of the company, their individual work is associated with the reputation of the enterprise they represent. Giving mobile workers remote access to corporate data - whether supply chain and inventory information for salespeople or technical and warranty information for technicians - means they can do their work even more quickly and effectively. The result: customers will be more satisfied.
