Key Application - Shared Outbound (Point-to-Multipoint): Using the Vocality Multiplexer/Router Over Point-to-Multipoint Networks Efficiently Using Large Outbound/Small Inbound Architecture | 2008-06-12 | Vocality International |
| This white paper provides an overview of a system configuration achievable through a combination of hardware from Vocality and traditional SCPC satellite modems. Satellite users such as welfare deployments or Satellite News Gathering truck operators will see immediate benefit from the flexible nature of the system design, allowing easy to configure voice, data and clean feed audio to be transmitted to or from remote to the central hub site - with a migration path which will allow MPEG 4 video to be transmitted over IP alongside the communications router services.

Benefits of Unified Messaging in Exchange Server 2007 | 2008-04-28 | Global Knowledge |
| Unified Messaging integrates different streams of communication (e-mail, fax, video, SMS, voice, etc.) into a single, or, unified "message store," that is accessible from a wide range of different devices. Through unified messaging, users can increase productivity using a wide range of devices. The best part is they can do it from almost anywhere, utilizing time that might otherwise have gone to waste. There are more that just a few ways that unified messaging features of Exchange Server 2007 deliver benefits. This white paper introduces some of the benefits Exchange Server 2007 delivers, including communication integration and increased information accessibility.

QoS: What Is It? Why Do We Need It? | 2008-04-11 | Global Knowledge |
| Quality of Service (QoS) is the ability to treat packets differently as they transit a network device, based on the packet contents. Without QoS, all packets on the network vie for the same pool of resources, and when congestion occurs. QoS can be used to address issues such as slow applications, jerky video and poor sound quality. This paper will describe what QoS is and why you need it.

Data Integration in a Grid-Enabled Environment | 2008-03-13 | SAS Institute |
| SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Grid Manager add capabilities to the SAS product suite to distribute workloads across a grid of computers and thereby allow large processes to complete more quickly than previously possible. SAS Grid Manager has been incorporated into SAS Data Integration Studio to facilitate using grid resources for any long-running task that can be processed in parallel to another task. This paper discusses typical data integration workloads, how to scale them on typical grid computing hardware, and the new capability to load balance multiple data integration tasks across grid resources.

Voice-Over-WLAN in Retail: The Power of Converged Solutions | 2008-01-01 | Motorola |
| Retail associates are on the move all shift long throughout the retail store. VoWLAN-based solutions can empower these highly mobile workers by providing the real-time voice and data capabilities required to streamline business processes to improve overall effectiveness, achieve a new level of responsiveness and deliver an unprecedented level of customer service. The end result is an increase in sales without increasing staff costs, ultimately improving overall profitability. VoWLAN-based solutions also offer outstanding value. In addition to the business benefits, these solutions can be implemented cost-effectively as they integrate with existing technologies - the wireless LAN and the PBX. Capital expenses associated with VoWLAN-based solutions are minimized, and the ability to leverage existing investments provides a rapid return on this strategic retail investment.

Aspects of Network Migration From ATM to MPLS | 2008-01-01 | University Politehnica of Bucharest |
| Many telecoms operators which provide voice services as a significant part of their business have installed in the last decades ATM network to carry the traffic. Choosing ATM as backbone technologies was an obvious choice at that time: ATM can carries voice and data, mostly Frame Relay, providing a good support for other further development such as video-conferencing or ISDN. Today the growing IP traffic is constraining the telecoms providers to adjust their network to function in this new climate with the maximum efficiency possible. Because of his nature, ATM is not the best way to carry IP traffic, nor the most efficient.

Data Integration Hub for a Hybrid Paper Search | 2008-01-01 | Florida State University |
| This paper describes the design of a hybrid search that combines simple metadata search with a traditional keyword search over unstructured context data. This paradigm provides the inquirer additional options to narrow the search with some semantic aspects through the XML metadata query. The paper demonstrates a paper search for a case study of the hybrid search, and describes a data integration hub to integrate those data dispersed on the Net.
