Cashferium Helps Retailers and Banks Cut Costs by Keeping Cash Flow Local | 2007-06-01 | IBM |
| With banks and retailers spending some ?50 billion each year on the handling of cash, the incentive for reducing the amount of cash in transit - one of the main sources of this cost - is powerful. However, with banks and retailers separated by a mountain of disparate processes and systems, the goal of a shorter cash cycle has yet to be realized. Startup Cashferium created a whole new process framework for the exchange of cash between retailers, banks and their ATMs. Cashferium then engaged IBM to help define and optimize these processes, and to create a secure, flexible platform for delivering - and continually adapting - its service.

| PT. Bank Lippo Tbk. offers commercial and retail banking services to 2.3 million individual and corporate account holders in Indonesia. Currently, the bank is in the process of refreshing its infrastructure. This offered an opportunity to standardize its software and operating system. During the Rapid Deployment Program (RDP) of Microsoft Windows Vista using the Release Candidate 1 (RC1) version, however, it was discovered that the 16-bit, as well as the software tool for managing its ATM network, did not run in Vista. Fortunately, the new Windows operating system came with Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. The 16-bit programs and Gasper Manager ran on Microsoft Windows XP, which ran inside Virtual PC in Windows Vista, without causing CPU utilization to go up to a risky level.

Astrium Limited: Avoid Network Upgrade and Save 63 Percent on Bandwidth Costs | 2005-05-01 | Juniper Networks |
| Subsidiary of EADS, Astrium has outsourced their WAN. In the UK, they have 34 Mbps ATM links to Portsmouth and Stevenage and a 2 Mbps link to Poynton. Users were complaining about slow application response times - especially during the morning when users would login to the network. Upgrading the Poynton circuit would be expensive and create an ongoing, monthly expense. Astrium UK deployed two Juniper Networks WX 50 application acceleration platforms at each location - one as primary and one as backup. They immediately saw average reductions of 65 percent corresponding to a capacity increase of 2.8 times and peak reductions of 82 percent corresponding to a capacity increase of more than five times.
