whitepaper True Convergence Demands a Communication Service Provider that Embraces a Customer-Centric Approach2009-11-19 Sprint
Ensure your service provider's convergence strategy meshes with your enterprise network needs. Respected consulting firm Stratecast, a division of Frost & Sullivan, outlines the six customer-centric attributes that should be at the heart of you're your service provider's approach to convergence. Those attributes are:
  • Multiple network access alternatives
  • Application performance management
  • Application transparency and session persistence
  • Cost predictability and simplicity
  • Application visibility and contrast
  • Private communications
Each is described in detail. Download this whitepaper now to see how your service provider matches up and if it's time to make a switch.

whitepaper Benefits of MPLS in the Enterprise Network2009-03-25 Alcatel-Lucent
As enterprises evolve to keep pace with the ever-changing business climate, enterprises' networking needs are becoming more dynamic. Their networks must be able to deliver sophisticated applications quickly and efficiently while minimizing costs. MPLS is a technology that can be very beneficial to enterprises and this paper outlines what MPLS is, the benefits that MPLS delivers and how MPLS can satisfy enterprise networking requirements.

whitepaper DINloop Based Inter-Domain Multicast With MPLS2009-02-03 National University of Singapore
To overcome the existing scalability problems, DINloop (Data-In-Network loop) based multicast with MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) is proposed to optimize inter-domain multicast. In this approach, multiple DIN Nodes in the core network form the DINloop using MPLS so that multiple multicast sessions share a single DINloop. A label stack method is adopted to use fewer labels and Label Switch Paths (LSPs) are established between DIN Nodes to create the DINloop. Packet Processing Module analyzes the coming multicast packet and MPLS Manager assigns a label stack to it. Simulations show that DINloop based multicast uses the least message load needed to form the multicast architecture.

whitepaper A DINloop-Based Inter-Domain Multicast Using MPLS2009-02-03 Institute for Infocomm Research
To overcome scalability and control overhead problems existing in inter-domain multicast, DINloop (Data-In-Network loop) based multicast with MPLS is proposed. DINloop is a special logical path formed using MPLS Label Switched Paths and it consists of multiple DIN Nodes which are core routers that connect to each intra-domain. DINloop is used to manage inter-domain multicast group membership. Facilitated by the DINloop, multiple DIN Nodes in the core network easily form a Steiner tree for multicast traffic. Furthermore, traffic for different multicast groups sharing the same path are aggregated through a label stack. Simulations demonstrate that DINloop-based multicast results in less message load needed to form the multicast structure.

whitepaper MPLS PLug-and-PLay for Metro Ethernet Networks2009-02-01 Juniper Networks
This paper will focus on an opportunity to revolutionize the way Metro Ethernet networks are built by applying the concept of MPLS Plug-and-Play, a technology developed by Juniper Networks. MPLS Plug-and-Play offers carriers a way to reduce the operating expense associated with deploying and managing MPLS-based Metro Ethernet networks while still enabling these operators to offer all of the cutting-edge services that their customers increasingly expect. This paper will show carriers how to easily map their access MPLS network into their larger core MPLS network, or, if preferred, how to create a completely new architecture.

whitepaper Bonduelle Implements an MPLS VPN to Reduce Complexity and IT Costs While Improving the Availability of Its Systems2009-02-01
The Bonduelle Group is the only food processing company involved in the three main areas of vegetable processing technology: canned foods, frozen foods and sophisticated fresh produce. After a period of difficulty, Bonduelle decided to assume more control over its facilities management providers and to take over the contracts in its own name again (purchasing, maintenance, telecoms). Furthermore, a planned change to the facilities management provider required the implementation of an open and scalable network to ensure the appropriate level of reversibility. After consulting the world's leading operators, they soon established that Verizon Business was the main player offering guaranteed total coverage as a sole provider, as well as reliable and continuous commercial monitoring.

whitepaper Ethernet and MPLS OAM: Operations, Administration and Maintenance2009-02-01 Ciena
This paper describes the Ethernet and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) tools and procedures used to accomplish Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM). This functionality addresses the fault management aspects of the Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security (FCAPS) model as defined by the ITU-T Telecommunication Management Network (TMN). Recent enhancements to Ethernet and MPLS have added carrier-class OAM features for monitoring, detecting, verifying, isolating, and repairing faults, with appropriate notifications to network administrators. These enhancements enable network operators to deploy timesaving, automated, self-healing practices, as well as on-demand diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques.
