COSTEL, which was reviewing enterprise-wide deployment perceived some burden in acquiring compatibility with several applications, so it applied Vista in limited parts. In the middle of this, it saw the emergence of 2009 Window 7 Beta and conducted reviews. Results showed that it can guarantee compatibility with various options and confirmed the existence of alternatives, so COSTEL began expanding enterprise-wide distribution.

| Genea provides energy management solutions to commercial property owners. Its Building Optimization Platform provides visibility into and control over energy consumption from the point of demand through billing for property managers and tenants. When it decided to create a Web-enabled, hosted version of its solution, Genea chose to use the Windows 7 operating system for its performance, security features, scalability, and built-in Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 technology, along with Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise for high availability. Genea noted that key software components of its solution run 35 percent faster on Windows 7 than on previous operating systems. The company is streamlining management of the Building Optimization Platform through enhanced remote access capabilities, while delivering a highly reliable solution that can handle large transaction volumes.

3M Ports Library Software to Latest Operating System: Improves Performance, Usability | 2009-11-18 | Microsoft |
| The Track and Trace Solutions Department of 3M, a Fortune 500 company, provides Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solutions. One such solution is the 3M RFID System, which is used by nearly 1,000 libraries and other facilities. To ensure customers can easily transition to and quickly benefit from the Windows 7 operating system, 3M recently migrated its library RFID applications from Windows Vista to run on Windows 7. The applications have nearly 2 million lines of code, yet it took just two days to verify the migration results - and no modifications to the applications were needed. As a result, 3M has noted enhanced security and reliability, and application performance improvements of up to 30 percent.

| Many municipal and regional governments lack the resources needed to build and maintain e-government portals. To help these organizations, Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Spenta Consulting built the Citizen Service Platform (CSP) core framework, now available as open-source software, by using the xRM business application framework. Spenta Consulting also created the full-featured CSP Citizen Portal Extended Edition solution, which takes advantage of xRM to meet unique public sector requirements like citizen case management, accessibility compliance, and secure e-forms. By taking advantage of xRM resources, Spenta Consulting was able to save 50 percent of the development effort required for relationship management aspects of the project.

7 Steps to Migrate From Windows XP to Windows 7 Using WinINSTALL and Survey | 2009-11-11 | Scalable Software |
| According to Microsoft's Technet Website, "There is no Upgrade option available when installing Windows 7 on a computer running Windows XP. The task involves using Windows Easy Transfer to migrate files and settings from Windows XP to Windows 7 on the same computer. To do this one must first copy files to a removable media, such as an external hard drive or UFD, or to a network share. Then, one will need to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 on their existing hardware, migrate the files back from the removable media or network location and then onto the computer. When one has finished, they must install the software programs again, but the files and settings will have been copied from Windows XP.
