HP has maintained its commitment to continuously improve and evolve OpenVMS. One such evolution was the transition, 10 years ago, from 32-bit VAX to 64-bit Alpha. The newest evolution is the porting of OpenVMS to the cost-effective, industry-standard HP Integrity server family based on the Intel Itanium 2 architecture. With the port completed, OpenVMS customers have a choice of staying with the AlphaServer system platform for many more years or moving to the industry-standard Itanium platform.

With more than two million members worldwide, they have an extensive database of important and private information that needs to be protected. The team evaluated all the different ways to set up a gym and found that thin clients allowed them to grow rapidly and expand sites while minimizing IT support in the field. Gold's Gym deployed two types of thin clients: the Wyse Winter 3360SE and the Wyse Winterm 8360SE. The Winterm 3360SE, based on the Microsoft Windows CE operating system, looks like a standard Windows desktop when connected to terminal servers. The Winterm 8360SE model runs Microsoft Windows NT Embedded and delivers multimedia capabilities with cameras connected to take identification photos.
