Overview
The client, Asian consumer sector giant, had almost signed a Joint Venture (JV) with an Indian partner. Attraction was the large Indian consumer market. Some senior managers were not fully comfortable with the partner. Valuenotes research found that JV partner had misrepresented the size of their business. They were embroiled in several legal (criminal) cases. Their earlier alliance partners had parted from them in unhappy circumstances. The client was saved from potential losses of millions of dollars, as well as the negative impact of allying with an unsatisfactory local partner.
