Protecting the Security of Education Records | 2009-10-10 | DigiCert |
| Academic and administrative computing systems used to be more isolated - either intentionally for security reasons or as a result of limited interconnectivity with other computers - but today it seems that nearly any information that an administrator, teacher, student or parent might need can be obtained through a network connection. Course materials are presented and students submit their assignments via the Internet, school lunch accounts and student grades can be accessed by parents' online and administrative paperwork and other information is shared among a variety of systems and people in K-12 and higher education. The Internet is a great way to communicate, but it introduces security threats that did not threaten walled-off systems of the last century.

Resolving the New Challenges of Crisis Response, Learning Experience and Higher Productivity | 2009-01-20 | Avaya |
| Higher education institutions today face significant issues which require a greater reliance on IT and communications for increased anytime, anywhere connections. At the same time, higher education needs to reach out to a wider student community to generate revenue and enhance the learning experience via distance learning, yet do so at a lower operating cost to provide short-term investment returns, as budgets are restricted. Unified communications can help institutions to generate immediate returns by leveraging existing systems with new technologies that will generate immediate returns in higher responsiveness, an improved learning experience and a coordinated crisis response. | |||

Why e-Learning | 2009-01-01 | |
| With the proliferation of Internet and Intranet, learning through the net gets a new name "e-Learning" in conformity with e-Commerce and e-Business. Training requirements in the Software Development segments arise mainly from three sources viz. customer requirements out of a new project, from the organizations future plan and business expansions and also from individual worker himself who would like to improve his skill. Whatever may be the source of this requirement, every corporate sector is now giving lot of importance to improve employees skills and allocate a good percentage of training funds. The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) estimated that in 1995, US employers spent US$ 55.3 billion on training.

| As organizations continue to expand their eLearning initiatives, many are looking to upgrade their IT infrastructure to support greater numbers of students and a broader mix of course content. Many Blackboard customers initially implemented the Blackboard Academic Suite as an online environment that was simply intended to augment the in-classroom experience. These initial implementations were often small in scale and were deployed using Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server. Due to the popularity of Blackboard platform and the many available applications, many of these pilot eLearning programs have since expanded to stretch the capacity limits of their initial system architecture.

Technology for Providing Educational Video on Demand on Campus | 2008-11-21 | Hewlett-Packard |
| Much hope has been placed in the past on Educational Television for improving educational standards and distance education. However, in many countries the impact of this technology has been limited. Some of the reasons are discussed along with possible technical solutions. One solution that has been developed at HP Labs India is presented. This involves the use of satellite TV channels, using the MPEG format, as the distribution channel for educational content in digital form. Inexpensive TV equipment, including those that work with Direct To Home (DTH) TV transmissions are used to capture TV programs in digital form and store them on a server.
