Initio: Creating a Secure Online E-Commerce Presence

Overview

Initio is a San Jose-based designer, producer, and marketer of high-performance storage host adapters, ASICs, and networking software. The challenge was to distribute hardware and software products in an online environment with minimal fraudulent activity and charge-backs. Initio selected Verisign. Verisign's PayFlow Pro provides payment processing, and Fraud Protection Services employ a set of highly customizable filters against such red flags as bad credit-card numbers, bad e-mail addresses, and bad IP addresses. The implementation of PayFlow and Fraud Protection Services has reduced the number of chargebacks from 5 per month to just 2 in a fifteen-month period.
