Overview
Phishing threats are growing in sophistication and are potential impacts to Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs). Technology certainly plays a major role in helping to reduce the risk and consequences of an attack but cannot absolutely guarantee safety and security. Responsibility also falls on each business and on its employees to be educated and aware in order not to become the victim of a phishing scam. This paper describes what phishing is, explains how attacks are propagated, lists different types of phishing approaches and gives examples. Finally it provides a list of practical steps that each employee can take when using the Internet to help foil the scammers.
