DiscountASP.NET Wards Off DoS Threats & 10 Million Online Attacks With TippingPoint Protecting Its Customers

In May 2005, a distributed Denial of Service (DoS) attack targeted one of the many Web sites that DiscountASP.NET hosts. The attack flooded the site's server with unwanted packets, against which the firewalls were ineffective. The surge in traffic crippled not just the site, but also the entire server. As result, the sites of hundreds of other clients were also incapacitated as users were unable to access their Web pages or conduct transactions. To thwart the attacks, DiscountASP.NET contacted vendors of intrusion prevention and DoS protection solutions, such as Mazu Networks, Foundry Networks and TippingPoint, a division of 3Com. TippingPoint responded promptly and offered its TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), the most decorated IPS on the market.
