Overview

The National Aquarium in Baltimore, one of the premier aquatic resources in the United States, presents 16,000 specimens in an award-winning 250,000 square-foot facility.

Limited office space required some staffers to share computers, and lengthy logon/logoff procedures further limited those users' time at the computer. If users didn't log off before leaving their sessions, they ran the risk of exposing confidential data. In addition, the National Aquarium IT staff wanted to reduce the time required to support multiple desktop operating systems. To provide more efficient and secure computer sharing, the Aquarium decided to move all users to the Windows Vista? operating system. This move has reduced logon time from 15 minutes to 5 seconds, provided faster access to information, and significantly reduced desktop support calls.
