How Continental Airlines and OMNI Security Were Able to Provide Real-Time Digital Images to a Central Control Center for Security and Surveillance at Newark International Airport | 2008-02-13 | Motorola |
| Continental Airlines and OMNI Security needed to solve the increasing costs of analog security and surveillance of Continental's employee parking lots. Continental Airlines employees at Newark International Airport were more concerned about their personal safety after the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedy. Motorola's Canopy point-to-point wireless technology was connected to full-motion cameras relaying full-motion sound and video to a command center where security officers monitor activity and control cameras, gates and phones. As a result employees feel safe with the new security system and its initial success. Besides increasing security, the airport authority has eliminated recurring costs.

Petroleum Company Strengthens Security With Network Access Protection Solution | 2008-02-01 | Microsoft |
| Petron Corporation, a petroleum refining and distribution company, wanted to reduce its network's exposure to security risks. The client devices that its mobile work force used were a chronic source of viruses because they often picked up malicious software from other systems. However, Petron was unable to verify the health of those devices before granting them network access. To improve security, Petron deployed Windows Server 2008 with Network Access Protection. Now Petron employees can connect more securely, and the healthier network is easier to manage. IT administrators have more time for other projects that further improve and protect Petron's IT environment, including the implementation of Microsoft Forefront Client Security and Forefront Security for SharePoint.

Utility Company Speeds Desktop Deployment, Enhances Security With New Operating System | 2008-02-01 | Microsoft |
| Companies usually upgrade the majority of their IT infrastructure every three years. Business plans at Stadtwerke Düsseldorf AG, a public utility company, called for upgrading 2,500 PC and notebook computers to a new Windows operating system in 2007. At that time, the release of the Windows Vista operating system was imminent, which meant the utility had two options: upgrade to the reliability of Windows XP or wait another year for Windows Vista to be released. A feasibility study showed a clear case for migrating to Windows Vista. From the earliest planning stages, it was clear that migration tools for Windows Vista and Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization would save significant migration and client PC operating expense.

Healthcare IT Alliance Immunizes Networks Against Rogue Access | 2008-02-01 | Microsoft |
| The South West Alliance of Rural Health (SWARH) is a joint venture of public health agencies in South-Western Victoria, Australia. It provides a region-wide IP network that carries voice, video, and data services. Its clients use a diverse range of hardware governed by SWARH ICT standards, although SWARH has no direct ability to enforce those standards. SWARH was concerned that if an unauthorized person plugged a computer into a network port at any of its 147 sites, they might gain unfettered access. However, installing secure switches at client sites would have been prohibitively expensive. Instead, in February 2008 SWARH began implementing the Network Access Protection feature of Windows Server 2008. SWARH gained the ability to enforce computer health policies and protect its network from malware.
