An Enhanced Security Protocol for Fast Mobile IPv6 | 2009-10-01 | Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers |
| Off late, Kempf and Koodli have proposed a security protocol for Fast Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6). Through the SEcure Neighbor Discovery (SEND) protocol, it achieves secure distribution of a handover key, and consequently becomes a security standard for FMIPv6. However, it is still vulnerable to redirection attacks. In addition, due to the SEND protocol, it suffers from denial of service attacks and expensive computational cost. This paper presents a security protocol, which enhances Kempf-Koodli's one with the help of the AAA infrastructure.

Reaching the Tipping Point for Two-Factor Authentication | 2009-10-01 | Quest Software |
| Two-factor authentication is becoming more common in the world's largest organizations, and many medium-size and smaller organizations are also looking hard at it. What is the appeal of this form of authentication? When organizations adopt it, what are their driving reasons? And, perhaps most importantly, which organizations are not adopting two-factor authentication, and why? When will the industry reach a "Tipping point," where two-factor authentication will become the norm? This paper examines these questions and their answers. | |||

Monitoring Active Directory for Security and Compliance: Bridging the Gaps in the Native Audit Log | 2009-10-01 | Quest Software |
| Much of the security and control of an enterprise IT environment rests on Active Directory. It provides authentication and access control for Windows users and applications, as well as for UNIX, Linux and mainframes. Even VPNs, extranets and internal network security technologies all use Active Directory for policy and identity information.

Fraud in the U.S. Payments Industry: Fraud Mitigation and Prevention Measures in Use and Chip Card Technology Impact on Fraud | 2009-10-01 | Smart Card Alliance |
| The white paper provides an overview of current fraud levels in the U.S. and of projected trends based on anticipated changes to the payments infrastructure. It focuses on credit and debit card fraud, which accounts for the vast majority of payment fraud in the U.S. Based on a cross-section of industry research and estimates, approximately 77% of payment fraud derives from these two payment types. | |||

Authentication Mechanisms for Physical Access Control | 2009-10-01 | Smart Card Alliance |
| The Protocol for Lightweight Authentication of IDentity (PLAID) is an authentication protocol that uses standards-based symmetric and asymmetric cryptography in a unique way to protect the communications between smart cards and terminal devices. Extremely fast and highly secure strong authentication of the smart card and data objects is possible without exposing card or cardholder identifying information or any other repeating information useful to an attacker. PLAID is being developed by the Australian government for use in all of their identity credentials and is proposed to ISO for open reference. | |||

Management Strategy for Network-Critical Physical Infrastructure | 2009-09-30 | American Power Conversion (APC) |
| When choosing a management solution for the physical infrastructure of IT networks, management of individual devices is necessary in order to have visibility to the many data points required for the reliable operation of network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI). Element management solutions offer the optimum approach as they manage a particular type of device and have the ability to assimilate and, more importantly, make manageable the large volume of data necessary for network availability.

The Security Analysis and Enhancement of Photographic Authentication | 2009-09-30 | Asian Network for Scientific Information |
| The aims of this project were to analyze the security of Photographic Authentication (PA) systematically, show that PA is vulnerable under the polling attack, and give some suggestions to enhance its security. To achieve the above goals, an automatic attack tool is designed to analysis the security of PA systematically. The tool captures the displayed photos, matches with historical ones to accumulate their counts. It selects the photo with highest count and repeats the process until successful login. In order to interfere with the photo match of the attack tool, a noise displacement method is also used to add noises into the original photos. Correspondingly, two noise reduction techniques are implemented in the attack tool for security analysis of PA with noise displacement methods. | |||
