whitepaper Implementation of SSL Using Information Security Component Interface2009-06-08 Korea University
Various security APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) are being used in a variety of application areas requiring the information security function. However, these standards are not compatible, and the developer must use those APIs selectively depending on the application environment or the programming language. To resolve this problem, the paper proposes the standard draft of the information security component, while SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) using the confidentiality and integrity component interface has been implemented to verify validity of the standard proposal. The implemented SSL uses the lower-level SSL component when establishing the RMI (Remote Method Invocation) communication between components, as if the security algorithm had been implemented by adding one more layer on the TCP/IP.

whitepaper Is It Too Late for PAKE?2009-05-02 University of California
The most common web authentication technique in use today is password authentication via an HTML form, where a user types her password directly into a web page from the site to which she wishes to authenticate herself. The problem with this approach is that it relies on the user to determine when it is safe to enter her password. To resist phishing and other social engineering attacks, a user must rely on the browser's security indicators and warning messages, e.g., the URL bar and the site's SSL certificate, to authenticate the website and determine when it is safe to enter her password. Unfortunately, studies suggest that many users habitually click through SSL certificate warnings and misunderstand or ignore browser security indicators.
