IronPort Provides an Education in Email Security | 2007-02-22 | Cisco Systems |
| Over 540,000 emails per day are directed to the students and staff of Weber School District, and more than 97 percent of those messages are spam. Not only is the content of these messages damaging to students, it can act as a vector for destructive desktop viruses, and overload the District's four Groupwise 7.1 servers. Weber School District had a long experience with anti-spam appliances. However, previous solutions suffered from a low capture rate, false positives, occasional crashes (resulting in long periods of downtime) and unmanageable content filtering. These legacy systems also required frequent manual updates. In late 2005, Weber School District installed an IronPort C30 email security appliance. Weber School District is also running IronPort Virus Outbreak Filters.

Outback Steakhouse Grills Spam With Proofpoint | 2007-01-01 | Proofpoint |
| Like most companies today, Outback Steakhouse was plagued by unsolicited email. Roughly 80% of Outback Steakhouse's total inbound email was spam, which upset employees by limiting their productivity and exposing them to inappropriate content, while also putting pressure on IT infrastructure such as mail servers, severely straining IT resources. Outback Steakhouse evaluated several anti-spam solutions including a test deployment of a mail-server based solution that didn't provide the accuracy and end-user control that the company required. Outback Steakhouse then evaluated and deployed the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway appliance and immediately saw the elimination of spam and viruses from employee inboxes.

Outback Secures Outbound Email With Proofpoint | 2007-01-01 | Proofpoint |
| A longtime Proofpoint customer, Outback Steakhouse is an Australian steakhouse concept restaurant with nearly 1,000 locations in the U.S. and abroad. Outback needed a solution that could automatically detect the presence of sensitive financial information in outbound email and block or encrypt those messages before transmission. Outback had already been using the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway since 2004 to protect its inbound email stream from spam and viruses. The solution worked so well that Outback decided to test - and ultimately deploy - two of Proofpoint's outbound modules as well. The Proofpoint Regulatory Compliance module detects sensitive information in Outback's outbound email and applies Outback's custom policies to those messages.

MedCentral Health System Deploys Proofpoint to Stop Spam and Comply With HIPAA Regulations | 2006-11-01 | Proofpoint |
| MedCentral Health System was faced with two critical messaging security issues. First, the hospital needed to prevent sensitive information from leaving the network via outbound email in order to comply with HIPAA regulations. Second, employees were receiving an unacceptable amount of spam in their email inboxes, despite the fact that MedCentral had an anti-spam appliance installed in its network. MedCentral deployed the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway to secure its inbound and outbound email streams. The Proofpoint Regulatory Compliance module allows MedCentral to scan its outbound email for any HIPAA infractions and educate its staff on proper email use, while the Proofpoint Spam Detection module blocks unsolicited email from entering the hospital's network at the gateway before it ever reaches users.
