whitepaper IPv6 and Spam2009-03-04 COMDOM Software
Implementation of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) appears necessary for further growth and development of integrated communications networks. However, this important enhancement to the Internet Protocol has failed to gain widespread acceptance. This paper highlights that the persistence and sophistication of spam reduces incentives to deploy IPv6. The analysis suggests that IPv6 adoption will erode the efficiency of antispam mechanisms that classify communications based on the reputation of its senders and will require an increased emphasis on content filtering.

whitepaper Textile Manufacturer Uses Hosted Filtering Service to Instantly Eliminate Plague of Spam2009-03-01 Microsoft
Johnstons of Elgin, which makes cashmere and other fine textiles in northern Scotland, was receiving up to 1 million unwanted e-mail messages a day. The spam clogged data lines, crashed server computers, overwhelmed numerous internal solutions, and diminished employee productivity. Efforts to stem the spam were ineffective, and some proposals were prohibitively expensive. Finally, Johnstons worked with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Adventi Group to implement Microsoft Forefront Online Security for Exchange, which routes incoming e-mail messages to the Microsoft global data center network for filtering. The solution, which required no capital expenditure or long-term commitment, virtually eliminated spam instantly. With more reliable incoming and outgoing mail, Johnstons saved three to five hours per week of IT administrative time, and restored employees' faith in the IT department.

whitepaper The Carbon Footprint of Email Spam Report2009-03-01 McAfee
All email users throughout the world, including consumers and businesses, struggle with the scourge of spam email. The costs and risks associated with spam have been well documented and have led to attempts by both government and private industry to curtail spam, notably the United States legislature's CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and proposals ranging from large email providers banding together to implement sender authentication systems to pay-to-send models. This white paper uses the ICF analysis to make a compelling argument for stopping spam at its source as well investing in state-of-the-art spam filtering technology, which not only saves time and money but can pay off in big dividends to the planet by reducing the carbon footprint of email spam.

whitepaper Application of Refined LSA and MD5 Algorithms in Spam Filtering2009-03-01 Academy Publisher
The paper proposes a spam filtering method that uses integrated and refined Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) and Message-Digest Algorithm 5 (MD5) algorithms to address a series of universal problems in spam filtering, including remarkably lowered filtering precision and notably unbalanced filtering efficiency as a result of lack of latent semantic analysis of mail contents. In introducing LSA, its weighting function is improved by integrating fuzzy membership to improve effectiveness of LSA in processing mail contents. On top of this, MD5 algorithm is used to generate "E-mail fingerprint", thus enabling quick matching and realizing highly efficient and accurate processing of mass-mailing spam. The result of the simulation experiment testifies effectiveness of the method.
