IBM Virtualization Engine TS7740 Performance White Paper for Releases 1.1, 1.2, 1.3

Overview

The TS7740 is built upon a unit of scalability called a "cluster". The TS7740 is available with a single cluster, or as two or three clusters linked together via a TCP/IP interface, termed a "Grid". Each cluster supports four FICON host channels, 256 virtual tape drives, and up to sixteen IBM System Storage TS1120 physical tape drives. This paper provides performance information for the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7740 (TS7740), which is the first product released in the TS7700 Virtualization Engine family of products.
