Dexia Bank Invests in HP BladeSystem and Thin Client Technologies to Build "Branch of Tomorrow" | 2007-02-20 18:58:33 | Hewlett-Packard |
| Dexia Bank's old system was not meeting business needs. Each branch bank had one Dell server, along with PCs on desktops. Because the primary applications were running under UNIX on IBM computers in the data center, the "Heavy" branch office servers were underutilized. At the same time, operating and supporting them was complex and costly. With the Branch of Tomorrow project, Dexia consolidated its legacy client/server architecture into a centralized architecture based on 300 HP BladeSystem servers in the bank's data center and 6000 HP Thin Clients in its branches. The solution also incorporates Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server software 3.0, which provides local and remote users with secure access to virtualized client/server applications from any location, device, or connection. | |||

Three-Way Collaboration Puts Willbros First | 2006-12-20 01:00:25 | Hewlett-Packard |
| Effective IT systems are crucial to ensuring events and decisions at the regional level are communicated swiftly and accurately up the organization's chain of command. Willbros Group, Inc. is keenly aware of these challenges. Willbros is a leading international contractor, serving the oil, gas and power industries worldwide for more than 90 years. From an IT perspective, Willbros' regional systems must be adapted to its operational footprint: it needs to make technology accessible to staff at its field locations whenever possible. This way data ranging from timekeeping to materials inventory that originates in the field can be logged, in real time, and fed into Willbros' ERP system. Willbros has that system in place because of threeway collaboration between Willbros, Oracle, and HP. | |||

Fairleigh Dickinson University Centralizes Storage and Backup, Improves Disaster Recovery and Email With HP Hewlett-Packard StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays and ProLiant Blade Servers | 2006-12-13 01:00:24 | Hewlett-Packard |
| Fairleigh Dickinson University, the largest private university in New Jersey, wanted to improve its backup procedures and disaster recovery processes, but its existing storage infrastructure made that difficult. It was using server-attached storage and tape backups, which were costly and difficult to manage and maintain. In addition, it wanted to improve the performance of its email servers. It turned to HP to solve its problems, and chose Hewlett-Packard StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays; award-winning Hewlett-Packard ProLiant blade servers; and Hewlett Packard MSL6060 tape libraries. As a result, the university now has a scalable, centralized, easy-to-use storage and backup infrastructure capable of full disaster recovery that can easily be scaled to meet the needs of the university well into the future. | |||

aSIS Seeks Consolidation From HP | 2006-12-13 01:00:24 | Hewlett-Packard |
| In the face of sustained growth over several years, aSIS had to consider the question of expanding its server park - should it continue to invest in machines piecemeal, or should it bring physical resources together in blades and keep logical resources in disk arrays? The Savoye subsidiary selected the proposal from HP and its partner, Ares. HP's plus points were the versatility and flexibility of the proposed blades, namely four HP ProLiant blade servers with two AMD Opteron processors, and two HP Integrity BL60p blade servers with two Intel Itanium 2 processors. |
