Overview
After 47 years of operation, the Philippine Social Security System (SSS) found itself with outdated technology just as its retirement, death, and disability benefits programs grew more popular than ever. Although only 70% of the nation's work force is registered with the system, registration is growing between 15% and 30% a year, straining the old technology and making it difficult for SSS to meet service levels. All that changed when SSS deployed two new systems based on an Oracle technology platform. After a thorough review, the company selected Oracle Application Server. The application was built using Oracle Application Server and Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE (OC4J).
