Overview

A typical Northwood location is used to house and educate students, as well as host administrative offices. To serve applications to its employees, Northwood used three Citrix servers running the Windows Server 2003 operating system. According to Whitehead, downtime was not uncommon. He and his staff often used Windows Remote Desktop to administer the servers. Applications were published with Terminal Services (TS) RemoteApp. But even with these solutions in place, server management and application publishing was not a cinch, and the accruing downtime was eroding Northwood employees' confidence. For Northwood, cost was a huge factor in its decision to hire Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Compudyne to deploy Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition on three HP computers.
