Overview
To keep up with their existing client load, the IT team was maintaining more than 25 physical servers that they were in the process of consolidating to virtual servers. Tight resources meant they could not spare the hardware and infrastructure to create a hosting environment for test and demonstration purposes. Sales department requests for Microsoft SharePoint or Exchange demos were difficult to accommodate, despite the IT department's keen interest in providing these critical tools for sales. They decided to install Windows Server 2008 and compare costs and functionality side-by-side to see which offered the best fit for the company needs.
