whitepaper Understanding and Communicating the Financial Impact of XML & DITA2007-03-01 Justsystems
In the technology age, bottom-line impact is the Holy Grail: savings in costs, time and resources. Any new investment or process improvement starts with infectious optimism, but ROI-focused executive teams need more proof than potential to give the green light - once the deal is signed and the work begins, how to make sure this technology delivers the results it should? This paper helps to understand and better communicate how the advances of XML and DITA can reduce the cost of content creation, localization and publishing for information-rich companies managing documentation in multiple languages. And further - how time and cost savings translate into revenue growth.
whitepaper Top 5 Business Reasons for High Performance Organizations to Leverage an Enterprise 2.0 SOA Platform2007-03-01 Justsystems
This Enterprise 2.0 world focuses on freeing traditionally inaccessible enterprise-wide and departmental information to be combined, viewed, and re-used to allow individuals who require that information to perform at their peak. This new reality is powered by Web services, SOA, composite applications and enterprise mash-ups, so that integration through XML will exist by default, significantly reducing complexity for IT departments when developing solutions to meet business challenges. This white paper addresses the top 5 business reasons why IT needs to adopt an Enterprise 2.0 SOA platform and makes some suggestions about what to look for when assessing options.

whitepaper Active Wizard: Dynamic Workflow2007-03-01 Technology Services Group
User acceptance of workflow systems is the most difficult component of any enterprise document management initiative. To be successful, workflow requires 100% participation. Keeping the system simple and intuitive as well as having the ability to quickly react to change are the primary drivers of success. Dynamic workflow provides substantial benefits for automating business processes over conventional static or template based solutions. The Dynamic Workflow module of the Active Wizard provides these capabilities for Documentum users. The Dynamic Workflow module leverages XML and the Documentum repository to provide a mechanism for rules to be created, managed and executed through either Webtop, or the stand-alone Active Wizard application.

whitepaper Accelerating XML, Web Services and SOA2007-01-31 Reactivity
Enterprises are implementing XML-based services and service oriented architectures (SOAs) in an effort to take advantage of the business efficiencies and new revenue opportunities offered by integrated applications. As a result, XML-based services solutions must support increasingly sophisticated business processes while at the same time delivering the assured performance and reliability demanded by mission critical applications. Enterprises can best meet these dual requirements by addressing the security, incompatibility and latency issues of XML in the network by deploying XML appliances. Reactivity XML Gateways significantly accelerate XML-based services and SOAs by improving performance of the entire XML-based services system. Web services messages frequently require expensive operations such as XML parsing, XSL transformations, authentication, schema validation, signature validation, encryption and message or attachment compression.

whitepaper DB2 9 XML Performance Characteristics: Use the TPoX Benchmark to Test the Performance of a Simulated Brokerage Scenario2007-01-30 IBM
The goal of this performance study was to demonstrate operating performance characteristics using the latest IBM server hardware, storage, AIX operating system, and DB2 9 software for an XML workload. The TPoX benchmark was used to achieve this goal. All tests used DB2's new STMM and automatic storage features. The author feels that the workload scenario is representative of a significant class of XML applications including message-based transaction processing as well as Web service application dealing with large numbers of small XML documents. The paper chose the financial industry due to its experience with it and its adoption of a mature, standardized XML schema, FIXML.

whitepaper MSDN Webcast: Overview of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) Application Development APIs (Level 200)2007-01-23 01:00:26 Microsoft
Microsoft offers an array of OnLine Analytical Processing (OLAP) APIs for everything from developing top-notch dedicated OLAP applications to just adding OLAP functionality to the existing applications. This webcast covers the ADOMD.NET object model for OLAP data access, the Analysis Management Objects (AMO) library for OLAP database management, and XMLA for a SOAP-based combination of the two. The presenter also looks at AdomdServer, which makes it possible to store Microsoft .NET Common Language Runtime (CLR) procedures and functions for the OLAP cubes.
whitepaper Use XML in DB2 SQL Stored Procedures: Access XML Data With Procedural Logic in DB2 9 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows2007-01-18 IBM
IBM DB2 9 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows adds major new XML functionality over and above prior DB2 releases. Before DB2 9, one could either store XML documents as LOBs or shred incoming XML data into relational tables, a process which required an add-on tool called XML Extender. However, DB2 9 enables users to store and query XML data in its native hierarchical format - a technique referred to as pureXML support. Now, one can build indexes over XML data, and perform shredding using a call to a stored procedure. This paper discusses the use of XML in SQL stored procedures.
