Bandwidth Management for Intranets Using Multicast Firewalls | 2008-01-01 | Universiti Putra Malaysia |
| The development of multicasting as the vehicle for multimedia content delivery has resulted in the proliferation of new applications that take advantage of the bandwidth optimization of multicast transmission. Nonetheless, enabling such applications to operate in an Intranet environment necessitates the use of multicast capable routers that are still in limited use. Multicast tunneling, while effective, introduces additional bandwidth requirements to support the environment. The emergence of H.323 based systems for multimedia applications has greatly increased the need for suitable mechanisms to control the flow of multimedia data through non-QoS capable networks.

When a Hurricane Prevented Travel, Executive Meetings Continued Using Multipoint IP Videoconferencing | 2007-12-18 | Cisco Systems |
| In late October 2005, disastrous weather in the southeastern United States prevented Cisco marketing executives from traveling to a conference in Florida. And yet, the executives already in Florida were able to meet with their counterparts in San Jose, California and Milan, Italy via an IP videoconference - and conducted the meeting more swiftly than they likely would have in person. This case study provides an example of the value of internal videoconferencing and explains what was required to connect an off-campus location to the Cisco intranet.

Intranet Improves Productivity and Access to Information, Reduces Costs | 2007-11-30 | Microsoft |
| Brocade Communications Systems, a company specializing in data center networking solutions, needed to deliver corporate information to employees in a centralized manner. Content was difficult to locate because it was spread across disparate storage systems and locations. | Established in 1937, HITT Contracting Inc. has been an innovator in the construction industry. HITT wanted to leverage its existing technology in solving organizational problem, and the Company intranet seemed to offer a possible solution. On paper it looked like a good idea: just update the intranet site so that when people logged in they could access the information they needed right off the Web, no matter where they were. HITT needed to find a way to continually update their intranet site as things changed. The Cram Group, a consulting firm that advises companies on software and software implementation strategies, suggested Document Locator, an enterprise document management system, as a solution for HITT.

Damia - A Data Mashup Fabric for Intranet Applications | 2007-09-28 | Association for Computing Machinery |
| Damia is a lightweight enterprise data integration service where line of business users can create and catalog high value data feeds for consumption by situational applications. Damia is inspired by the Web 2.0 mashup phenomenon. It consists of a browser-based user-interface that allows for the specification of data mashups as data flow graphs using a set of operators, a server with an execution engine, as well as APIs for searching, debugging, executing and managing mashups. Damia offers a framework and functionality for dynamic entity resolution, streaming and other higher value features particularly important in the enterprise domain. This paper shows the creation and execution of several enterprise data mashups, thereby illustrating the architecture and features of the overall Damia system.
