IMS: The Migration Path Towards Converged IP-Based Networks | 2007-04-03 | Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) |
| Consumer demand for multimedia services encompassing voice (POT, mobile, and VoiP), video (multimedia), and data (internet), aptly referred to as triple play services, has created a multi-billion dollar opportunity for telecommunication incumbents and new service providers. The convergence of these services allows service providers to earn more revenue dollars per given customer and also reduce the customer "Churn rate" by bundling attractive service packs. In the past, telecom service delivery was limited by and closely associated with the network that delivered the services to the end user.

Vocalocity PBX: What SMBs Should Know About Deploying a Hosted PBX Phone Solution | 2007-04-03 | vocalocity |
| Hosted PBX phone solutions are revolutionizing how Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs) serve their customers, grow their business, and support their employees. Delivering the same enterprise-level, professional phone system capabilities large businesses use at a much lower cost, hosted PBX is helping SMBs save money while putting their customer services on par with much larger organizations. While large enterprises have begun leveraging the cost advantages and robust capabilities of enterprise IP (Internet Protocol) telephony, on-site IP PBX (Private Branch eXchange) systems can require significant initial investment and ongoing operational costs that put them out of reach for SMBs.

Gearing Up For IP Collaboration (from Networking Views) | 0000-00-00 | AT&T Intellectual Property |
| Collaboration between organizations supported by IP networking can yield substantial productivity rewards. But in this Expert Perspectives article from AT&T's Networking Views publication, Andy Woodfield, Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers' performance improvement consulting practice, points out that such collaboration needs preparation.
Senior executives and IT professionals need to discuss the business potential of collaborative IP-based technology, and security must be assessed early in preparation. Intellectual property issues must be resolved to make collaboration work. It is also important to establish which organization leads the collaboration. Supporting Mobility Events Within a Hierarchical Mobile IP-Over-MPLS Network | 2007-03-01 | Academy Publisher |
| This paper examines mobility events, and particularly handovers in an overlay environment, where Hierarchical Mobile IP is operating over MPLS. The overlay operation is examined in detail under two scenarios and a comprehensive explanation of the operation of intra- and inter-cell handovers is presented. Furthermore, it improves on existing methods of MIP-MPLS interworking first by defining a simple framework based on Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6), and second by outlining the relevant protocol design aspects.
