How Cisco IT Migrated High-Volume Linksys Contact Center to IP Network | 2007-11-19 | Cisco Systems |
| When Cisco Systems acquired Irvine, California-based Linksys Group, Inc. in mid-2003, Cisco IT acquired an unprecedented challenge: integrating a contact center whose volume surpassed that of the other 60 Cisco contact centers combined. Linksys needed a scalable call center solution that also would drive operational efficiencies over the long term. In 2000, Cisco had migrated all of its contact centers around the globe to a Cisco IP Contact Center (IPCC) environment to gain the benefits of centralized management and support from the Cisco Global Support team. Cisco IT and the Linksys team decided to deploy Cisco IPCC as well.

How Cisco Designed and Deployed IPTV for Global Communications | 2007-11-19 | Cisco Systems |
| Cisco IP/TV broadcasts are one of several ways that Cisco Systems delivers multimedia content, some of the others being virtual classrooms and Video on Demand (VoD). In general, Cisco uses Cisco IP/TV broadcasts for providing high-quality, live, or prerecorded information to large audiences of more than 50 people. In contrast the virtual classroom solution works best for audiences of fewer than 50 that require frequent live interaction, demos, audience polling, or question-and-answer sessions. VoD offers a low-cost means of providing individual users with pre-packaged information at any time, from any networked location, without the live interaction provided by Cisco IP/TV broadcasts or the virtual classroom.

Scalable IP-VPN Flow Control Mechanism Supporting Arbitrary Fairness Criteria | 2007-11-16 | Osaka University |
| In recent years, IP-based Virtual Private Networks (IP-VPNs), which provide a virtual privately owned network over an IP network, have attracted attention. With existing IP-VPNs, however, there is a serious problem that fairness among IPVPN customers is not satisfied. This paper first discuss design objectives of a control mechanism for achieving fair IP-VPN services: achieving inter-VPN fairness, achieving intra-VPN fairness, easy deployment into existing IP networks, and achieving a high scalability. Then it propose an IP-VPN fairness control called I2FVC (Inter- and Intra-VPN Fairness Control) for realizing a fair IP-VPN service in a scalable way. The core of I2VFC is an AIMD (Additive Increase and Multiplicative Decrease) window flow control operating among IP-VPN service provider's edge routers.

Enabling Mobility With HP Innovation and the HP Integrity Platform | 2007-11-01 | Hewlett-Packard (HP) |
| The ability and willingness to move or change is about mobility. Mobility is a catalyst for these changes as traditional ways of doing business and divisions across segments - media, network, and device companies - are changing as the industry converges. Lifestyle convergence is apparent to all - the boundaries of work, family and home life are no longer solid. Device convergence is happening with handsets, PDAs, PCs and even television. Content needs to be created just once and delivered in the optimal format for any device the consumer wishes to use. Network convergence is about more open, IP-based converged network ecosystems that support the essential requirements for network mobility.

Avaya Case Study: The Trading Room Gibraltar | 2007-11-01 | Avaya |
| The Trading Room Gibraltar was in need of a telephony solution that could significantly reduce the ongoing costs of international calling and make the company's representatives more readily available to clients at all hours of the day. The company's existing telephone system didn't allow multiple outgoing calls or offer multiple lines for incoming calls, making it difficult for traders to provide high levels of customer service to clients. By adopting VoIP technology with an Avaya IP Solution and working with a service provider in the U.K., the Trading Room's telecom-related costs per minute have dropped from 60 pence per minute to 5 pence.

A Uni?ed Framework for Modeling TCP-Vegas, TCP-SACK, and TCP-Reno | 2007-10-22 | Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers |
| This paper presents a general analytical framework for the modeling and analysis of TCP variations. The framework allows the modeling of multiple variations of TCP, including TCP-Vegas, TCP-SACK, and TCP-Reno, under general network situations. In particular, the framework allows us to propose the first analytical model of TCP-Vegas for arbitrary on-off traffic that is able to predict the operating point of the network. The analysis provided by this framework leads to many interesting observations with respect to both the behavior of bottleneck links that are shared by TCP sources and the effectiveness of the design decisions in TCP-SACK and TCP-Vegas.
