Services Firm Switches to Microsoft Collaboration, Cuts Costs and Improves Productivity | 0000-00-00 | Microsoft |
| A wholly owned subsidiary of H&R Block, RSM McGladrey is a major consulting firm that offers financial and business services to midsized companies. After years of growth, the company's aging IT infrastructure was ill-suited to its mobile in-the-field work force. Communication and collaboration products, based primarily on IBM Lotus Notes/Domino, were cumbersome, and employee productivity suffered. In late 2005, RSM McGladrey switched to a collaboration solution based on integrated Microsoft products. The company also began migrating its Notes applications to Microsoft technologies, including the Microsoft .NET Framework. Now, the more centralized IT infrastructure is simpler to manage and supports flexible application development.

University Supports Remote Students With Web Conferencing Solution | 0000-00-00 | Microsoft |
| Faculty and administrators designed Carnegie Mellon University's West Coast Campus (CMU West) with remote students in mind. Commuting is not a viable option for nearly half of the university's students, given their geographic location, and many of the local students are working professionals who attend class remotely to accommodate their work schedules. Shortly after CMU West welcomed its first class of students, faculty members realized that the university's third-party collaboration solutions fell short of expectations. With its means of effectively supporting remote students in jeopardy, CMU West implemented a Web conferencing solution built around Microsoft Office Live Meeting, which supports collaboration and information sharing in real time, regardless of student location.

Business Portal Transforms the Way avBUCH Produces and Publishes Books | 2006-09-01 | IBM |
| Agronomy, the study of agriculture, is thousands of years old. Authorship on agronomy dates back almost as far. Reliance on e-mail to structure the book publishing process led to unnecessary high costs and inefficiencies for this publisher of agricultural works; with writers, editors and designers in separate locations throughout Europe, overcoming the issues created by distance was a vexing challenge during the publishing process. IBM offered a robust, easy-to-manage portal and collaboration platform especially tailored for small and medium businesses. The company deployed IBM Workplace Services Express software as a solution.
