whitepaper Internet/Intranet J2EE Using Internal/Public Applications2006-04-15 Tangram Soft
This paper describes several techniques used to enable a legacy application for intranet and internet access, for both employees and clients. The process of work entailed migrating the original application that was based on Adabas, COBOL and CICS to Java and J2EE using DB2, WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere MQ.

whitepaper HP Open Source Blueprint: J2EE Application Server Based on HP ProLiant and BladeSystem X86_64 Servers, JBoss Application Server, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 22006-04-01 Hewlett-Packard (HP)
HP Open Source Middleware Stacks offer building block applications, such as the JBoss Application Server; paper describing how to integrate individual components of a technology stack; and consulting services to speed the successful implementation of an open source strategy. Additionally, HP Open Source Support Services provide a single source for industry leading technical support of all the products that HP sells including hardware, operating systems, and open source middleware. This white paper provides a technical blueprint for the implementation of an open source J2EE application server middleware stack.

whitepaper Carrier-Grade J2EE: The Foundation of the Oracle SDP2006-04-01 Oracle
The demand for converged services, combined with the convergence between wireless and fixed networks (e.g., broadband) emphasizes the need to move away from silo-based architectures and instead rely on a horizontal, standards-based platform that enables convergence - enter a standards-based Service Delivery Platform (SDP). Oracle is a leader in this standardization effort and the Oracle Service Delivery Platform is a realization of the OSE based on Java EE (formerly known as J2EE). J2EE has been enormously successful as a platform technology that has fundamentally changed the way Internet-based applications are developed. This white paper provides an overview of the Oracle Service Delivery Platform vision and the role of J2EE in the realization of this vision.

whitepaper Oracle SDP - Enablers and Future Proofing Your Investment2006-04-01 Oracle
The Oracle Service Delivery Platform is a J2EE-based realization of the OMA Service environment (OSE). Enablers, which are key building blocks of reusable functionality that expose standard interfaces, are a central architectural principle underlying the implementation of the Oracle SDP. Enablers bring to the Telecom and service provider domain a number of well understood lessons in the IT domain, such as encapsulation, abstraction, standard APIs and reuse. As such, relevant out of the box enablers along with a general purpose enabler framework are absolutely central to getting traditional IT and enterprise developers excited about network-centric applications. The Oracle SDP provides both such enablers as well as an enabler framework that allows 3rd parties to build their own enablers.

whitepaper Bootstrap Interfaces Definition by Leveraging OSS Common JSR Design and Shared Entities2006-04-01 Sun Microsystems
Operations Support Systems (OSS) enable telecommunications companies to manage, monitor and control telecommunications networks. Service management considerations include handling new customers and service activation with subsequent service assurance. Service management is always looking to minimize the costs of introducing new services and of changing existing ones. This paper provides users with guidelines about how to extend the OSS Common API. The OSS Common API was developed through the Java Community Process (JCP) as Java Specification Request (JSR) 144.

whitepaper Capacity Planning for Adobe's Macromedia Flex 1.52006-04-01 Adobe Systems
The purpose of this paper is to help the reader better estimate what the hardware requirements for Adobe's Macromedia Flex 1.5 application might be in a production environment. The paper gives an overview of capacity planning, then addresses capacity planning issues specific to Flex. The paper then walks one through the load testing process using a baseline Flex application and presents performance test results for this application.

whitepaper Carrier-Grade J2EE as the Foundation of the Oracle SDP2006-04-01 Oracle
The technology foundation for Oracle's Service Delivery Platform is the widely adopted industry standard Java EE (formerly known as J2EE) enhanced to be carrier-grade. As a result, a service provider that deploys the Oracle Service Delivery platform can depend on a widely adopted industry standard (over 3 million developers are familiar with J2EE concepts) for the development of exciting, new data services. At the same time, these services can be deployed to have the same level of availability, reliability, stability and performance that operators provide as a matter of course to their customers. This white paper details Oracle's vision and the concepts behind a J2EE-based open standard realization of the OSE for service providers as well as enterprises.

whitepaper Mobicents: JSLEE for the People, by the People2006-03-14 Sun Microsystems
VoIP, as many have said, is more than merely Voice over IP. Recent years have seen several highly popular applications like Skype, Google Talk, and MSN Messenger. What kind of server support needs to be provided for these applications? Network endpoints exchange one-way messages through various servers and signal the establishment of a session. Interesting services can be built by placing fragments of code, or "Event handlers," in the signaling path at the server. Furthermore, service providers may speed up their innovation processes and quickly launch new services if they use a standards-based component model and container architecture. And this is what JAIN SLEE (JSLEE) is all about: it is an event-oriented application middleware standard and Mobicents is an implementation of it.

whitepaper Regulating Workload in J2EE Application Servers2006-03-09 University of California
In this project, the author designs and implement flow control in a J2EE application server by applying control theory and dynamic probabilistic scheduling. The goal is to regulate workload at the web front end to prevent overloading the shared database, while keeping fairness over all requests. Since workload in an enterprise application has a much larger variance in terms of resource demand, classical control theory does not work well. The paper supplements the feedback control with workload classification and dynamic queue scheduling, and find that correct queueing policy can simplify the control design.

whitepaper Standards-Based Fusion2006-03-01 Oracle
It wasn't so long ago that the introduction of hot-pluggable hardware made it possible to add and remove devices from a running desktop computer - adjusting capabilities on the fly. Soon hot-pluggable server and network hardware brought power and flexibility to the enterprise, and database clusters such as Oracle Real Application Clusters brought hot-pluggable database power to the data center. Bringing the same level of interoperability to enterprise applications, however, requires a comprehensive architecture and adherence to multiple industry application standards. Hot-pluggable applications require a hot-pluggable architecture such as Oracle Fusion Architecture.
