XS4ALL, an Internet service provider in the Netherlands, wanted to give customers more flexibility and improve its own administration. It was spending too much time managing hosted Web applications, and manual installation processes slowed deployment. To enhance customer service and its IT environment, XS4ALL deployed Windows Server 2008 including Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0. The company eases administration by delegating Web application management to customers, and it decreases deployment time by using Windows Deployment Services. Before, XS4ALL used UNIX-based servers for PHP applications. Now, customers can run both PHP and Microsoft ASP.NET applications on IIS 7.0, which further streamlines management. XS4ALL is one of the first in the Netherlands to deliver Web applications on Windows Server 2008, and it is attracting new customers interested in innovative solutions.
