Developing Web Applications With COLLADA and X3D | 2007-03-25 | Media Machines |
| COLLADA and X3D are two royalty-free open standards that use XML schema technology to represent 3D content. With the growing pressure for tool vendors and content providers to use open standards rather than closed proprietary formats, many are wondering which standard they should implement. This whitepaper is intended to assist developers in understanding the similarities and differences between COLLADA and X3D, the design goals that informed their development, and how and where the two standards are used in practical applications. Rather than making a decision between the two technologies, many implementers will find that COLLADA and X3D can be used together as a powerful tool set for developing their Web and enterprise applications.

Enterprise Transformation and Network Architecture: Constructing a Platform for Business Value Acceleration | 2007-03-01 | Cisco Systems |
| Whether the company is being strongly affected by globalization, outsourcing, private equity competition, increased regulation, or Web 2.0, it is clear that future requirements for enterprise computing will only be more demanding. To survive and prosper, companies must reduce operating costs, increase automation and control, and prepare to scale the number of business relationships they can support. Increasingly, the remedies to the challenging problems lead to one question: What is the role of the network? The transport-centric vision for the network is now giving way to a converged vision in which enterprise and network architecture meet separated by a framework called Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

| For 25 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research, community-based outreach programs, and events like the Komen Race for the Cure. The organization wanted to provide syndicated information via its Web site, so visitors could easily find the latest news on breast cancer research, as well as information on how to sign up for Race for the Cure events. But above all, the foundation needed a solution that could withstand the millions of hits its Web site and extranet receive each month. To help achieve these goals, the foundation selected Oracle Universal Content Management, previously called Stellent Universal Content Management, over competing products from Vignette and Interwoven.
