whitepaper Applying the 3C Model to Groupware Development2005-06-01 PUC-RIO
This paper introduces an approach based on the 3C (communication, coordination and cooperation) collaboration model to the development of collaborative systems. The 3C model is studied by means of a detailed analysis of each of its three elements, followed by a case study of a learningware application and the methodology of a web-based course, both designed based on this model. Moreover, this paper describes a component-based system architecture following this 3C approach.

whitepaper Siebel COM-Based Interface: An Innovative Alternative to EIM2005-03-07 Tata Consultancy Services
Siebel eBusiness Application provides an inbuilt solution to enable bi-directional batch data integration using the Siebel Enterprise Integration Manager (EIM). It interfaces with Siebel's Data Objects layer reading and writing bulk data in and out of the Siebel database via the Siebel interface tables. With some amount of administration and additional interface tables Siebel EIM offers a popular out-of-the-box solution. This paper explores an alternative method of secure data loading which leverages the exibility and maintainability of using Siebel VB COM objects.

whitepaper Component Based Development and Use: Managing the Component Life Cycle2003-05-30 I-Logix
This paper will discuss the challenges and issues related to component based development and reuse. It will describe the players involved in component production and consumption, and the various methodologies, processes and tools needed to implement a successful reuse program. It will not try to rationalize component-based development. The authors of this paper presume the merits in developing and reusing components is apparent. It is the realization of the well- understood benefits that will be the focus of this paper.

whitepaper UML Basics: The Component Diagram2004-12-15 IBM
In component-based development (CBD), component diagrams offer architects a natural format to begin modeling a solution. Component diagrams allow an architect to verify that a system's required functionality is being implemented by components, thus ensuring that the eventual system will be acceptable. This paper introduces the component diagram, a structure diagram within the new Unified Modeling Language 2.0 specification.

whitepaper Service Oriented Architectures and Web Services: New Opportunities for Telecom Service Providers2005-01-01 IBM
Generate new markets and revenue. A big opportunity for telecom from IBM.

The telecommunications industry is entering a new era of opportunity. The adoption of service-oriented architectures (SOAs), and the Web services that enable them , has created applications with far less development time and expense than ever before.

What does this mean for service providers? Communication between the internal and external applications of their customers. Access to the hidden value within their networks. And market expansion opportunities. Learn more about IBM's approach to SOAs by downloading this white paper.

whitepaper Borland Accelerates Success: SRS Chooses Borland Delphi 7 Studio to Deliver a Web Services-Based Front-of-House Application Keeping Them Ahead of the Competition0000-00-00 Borland Software
Smart Restaurant Solutions (SRS) develops front-of-house restaurant solutions. SRS needed a development environment that was easy to use, robust, extensible and open to integration and development of Web Services, to tap into functionality it didn't have to design from scratch. Borland Delphi Studio, with its high-productivity Web Services and component-based development platform, enabled SRS to deliver a powerful solution faster and ahead of the competition. The Borland BizSnap Web Services development platform simplifies business-to-business integration by easily creating and consuming industry-standard XML/SOAP Web Services and connections.

whitepaper A Component-Based Product Line for Workflow Management Systems2004-12-01 Universidade Estadual de Maringa
This paper presents a component-based product line for workflow management systems. The process followed to design the product line was based on the Catalysis method. Extensions were made to represent variability across the process. The domain of workflow management systems has been shown to be appropriate to the application of the product line approach as there are a standard architecture and models established by a regulatory board, the Workflow Management Coalition. In addition, there is a demand for similar workflow management systems but with some different features. The product line architecture was evaluated with Rapide simulation tools.

whitepaper OPEN Digital Media Framework: Declaration of Benefits2004-12-01 IBM
The IBM OPEN Digital Media Framework integrates standards-based components to design digital media solutions that fit the user's needs. The transition from vertically integrated solutions to component-based solutions results in more durable investments for customers. As technology progresses, individual components can be replaced without having to rebuild the entire infrastructure. By targeting heterogeneous environments and offering open, standards-based information technologies, component providers can focus on their core strengths.
