whitepaper Automated Schematization for Web Service Applications2007-11-22 University of Nottingham
Schematic map is a diagrammatic representation based on linear abstractions of networks. With the advent technologies for web based delivery of geospatial services it is essential to develop map generalization applications tailored for the same. This paper is concerned with the problem of producing automated schematic maps for web map applications. The paper looks at how previous solutions to the spatial conflict reduction can be adapted and applied to production of automated schematic maps for web services.

whitepaper Agile Modeling With Mind Map and UML2007-11-11 Change Vision
Requirement Gathering or Gathering User Stories (in Agile context) is always a challenging phase in software development. There are no standard processes or notations defined, In addition, communication and facilitation skills are the primary factor that makes the activity effective. This paper proposes a new method for exploring "User Wish" using Mind Maps and then models it using UML.

whitepaper Small Business Webcast: See How Small Business Owners Use Visio 2007 to Communicate Complex Information to Customers and Vendors (Level 100)2007-11-09 Microsoft
Using diagram-specific shapes and tools in Microsoft Office Visio 2007, user can create professional-looking flowcharts, organizational charts, and workflow diagrams. This enables user to connect processes with company data and share that information easily with employees. This webcast show how Visio 2007 helps to migrate from complicated text and tables to Visio 2007 diagrams that effectively communicate information at a glance.
whitepaper Integrating a Command Shell Into a Web Browser2007-11-04 Carnegie Mellon University
The transition from command-line interfaces to graphical interfaces has resulted in programs that are easier to learn and use, but harder to automate and reuse. Another transition is now underway, to HTML interfaces hosted by a web browser. To help users automate HTML interfaces, the paper proposes the browser-shell, a web browser that integrates a command interpreter into the browser's Location box. The browser-shell's command language is designed for extracting and manipulating HTML and text, and commands can also invoke local programs. Command input is drawn from the current browser page, and command output is displayed as a new page. The browser-shell brings to web browsing many advantages of the Unix shell, including scripting web services and creating pipelines of web services and local programs.

whitepaper Hardware Image Filtering on Desktop Computers2007-10-31 University of Tartu
Real-time video processing, large scale image manipulation and many other fields require much processing time. Severity of this problem can be abated in different ways. One solution is to use what is already present in a desktop personal computer as general purpose graphics hardware gets more programmable. This paper gives an overview of author's experiences and work in this field. Test results are promising: hardware filters are up to 32 times faster in perfect conditions and at least 3 times faster in common test. The following filters are tested: Gaussian and other smoothing techniques, sharpen, Roberts, Sobel, Prewitt, median, morphological corner extractor.

whitepaper The Development of an Augmented Reality-Based Data Visualization System for Commissioning of Air Handling Units2007-10-23 Istanbul Technical University
This paper discusses the development of an Augmented Reality-based data visualization system that supports commissioning HVAC systems during construction, occupancy, and operations phases. Commissioning is a process that generates a significant amount of data. Therefore a Building Commissioning data model has been developed to effectively manage such data and facilitate the computational support for commissioning work. One of the challenges of this model-based approach has been to reduce the inefficiency caused by the disparate and multiple attributes of the Building Commissioning data. In order to meet this challenge, the paper aims to develop an Augmented Reality-based data visualization interface which can automatically detects a piece of equipment and visualizes all necessary data relevant to the particular equipment for the commissioning procedures.
