whitepaper Implementing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Solutions2008-01-01 Microsoft
When one begins implementing a solution based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 or Windows SharePoint Services on a new server, he or she may seek comprehensive guidelines to manage the implementation. This paper outlines a methodology for team SharePoint development, customization, and content authoring that aims to accelerate implementation and mitigate production risks.

whitepaper JSFTemplating and Woodstock: Component Authoring Made Easy2007-12-01 Sun Microsystems
In a recent paper, JSFTemplating was applied to writing JavaServer Faces components. That article presents a simple way to develop a JavaServer Faces component Renderer, moving the markup for a component from Java code to a template file and vastly improving the clarity and maintainability of the component. The approach discussed in that article is helpful, but it doesn't address many of the other pain points of JavaServer Faces component authoring. For example, one must still write a JavaServer Pages (JSP) tag handler, the JSP TLD file, the faces-config.xml file, and potentially the Facelets taglib.xml file. One must also find a way to package and serve resources associated with the component.

whitepaper Collaborative Example Authoring System: The Value of Re-Annotation Based on Community Feedback2007-10-15 University of Pittsburgh
Learning from examples is a common and powerful approach when mastering the art of programming. In the classroom studies of WebEx and NavEx, students highly praised the systems. However, the broader dissemination of this approach was not very successful due to the lack of content - annotated examples. This paper presents the study results in example-based programming learning by annotating examples. The classroom study confirmed that community successfully filtered out good and bad annotations and improved the quality of the annotations. In addition, the annotating example assignment was perceived highly helpful in understanding.

whitepaper TechNet Webcast: Workflow in Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies 2007: Out-of-the-Box and Creating Custom Workflows (Level 200)0000-00-00 Microsoft
This webcast discusses the integration of Windows Workflow Foundation into Windows SharePoint Services version 3.0; how workflows are designed, stored, and used; and which capabilities are enhanced by taking advantage of client and server technology. It explains different authoring tools and techniques, including how to create no-code workflows using Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 and provide guidance on deployment and management in a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 environment.

whitepaper A Cloze Test Authoring System and Its Automation2007-09-27 University of Tokyo
This paper presents a pilot system and discusses its possible extensions. The paper presents a web-based test authoring system for English grammar and vocabulary. It assists language teachers to make questions on arbitrary input texts, such as online news. The system employs the techniques of NLP (Natural Language Processing) and is compared with other studies in the same field. In the latter sections the paper discusses some extensions of the system. It shows a method of automatically acquiring the grammar targets and discusses an extension to a computer-adaptive question generator which interacts with students. The paper also describes the design of the extended system and focus on the difficulty predictor, one of the major components needed.

whitepaper An Efficient Object-Oriented Authoring and Presentation System for Virtual Environments2007-09-13 Darmstadt University of Technology
This paper describes the design and implementation of a multi-purpose object-oriented authoring system for interactive virtual environments and presentations, semi-interactive 3D visualization, and non-interactive photorealistic animations. Its main design criteria are reusability and flexibility, especially in the support of a wide range of input and output formats. Input data may be provided from any type of event-oriented simulation system as well as from an interactive scene modeling tool. The primary output system is a Java-based VRML browser, but a concept of output driver channels allows the use of other rendering systems, such as off-line renderers for the production of photo-realistic video streams.

whitepaper Distributed Authorization Using Delegation With Acyclic Paths2007-09-10 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
This paper presents a new trust management scheme for distributed authorization which can be easily implemented using X.509-based certificate chains, but does not require globally unique role names. A principal proves that he has authorization for a particular action by demonstrating the existence of an acyclic chain of bindings from a specified principal to himself, where the sequence of labels in the chain matches a template. This template is in an easily-computed subset of regular path expressions. The restrictions to acyclic paths and to a subset of path expressions enable us to permit controlled delegation, relax the requirement of global agreement on role names, and provide an intuitive abstraction.
whitepaper COFALE: An Authoring System for Creating Web-Based Adaptive Learning Environments Supporting Cognitive Flexibility2007-07-01 Academy Publisher
Constructivism is a learning theory that states that people learn by actively constructing their own knowledge, based on prior knowledge. A significant number of ICT-based constructivist learning systems have been proposed in recent years. A critical problem related to the design and use of this kind of systems has been the lack of a practical means to facilitate the instructional design process. The research aims to help designing truly constructivist and adaptive learning environments. The approach is based on a set of operational criteria for certain aspects of constructivism: The authors uses these criteria as a useful pedagogical framework to provide tools and guidelines facilitating the instructional design process. One facet often mentioned as being strongly relevant to constructivism is cognitive flexibility.
whitepaper Authoring Intelligent Tutoring Systems for Disabled Learners2007-04-14 Universite de Poitiers
The purpose of this paper is to present an authoring tool for the development of a distance learning Hypermedia Intelligent Tutoring System (HITS). Designed to satisfy guidelines of accessibility of the W3C recommendation for authors and learners that present disabilities, the authoring tool allows several authors geographically dispersed to cooperate to produce such tutors together. It consists of a shared workspace gathering all tools necessary to the cooperative development task. After describing the structure of the generated ITS, the client-server architecture of the authoring tool and the mechanism needed to manage the notification and group awareness is outlined.

whitepaper OPAS: An Ontology-Based Library Help Desk Service2007-04-02 University of Helsinki
This paper argues that ontological knowledge technologies can be utilized in authoring question-answer services. To ease the content indexer's work, the paper proposes a system that provides semi-automatic semantic indexing for annotating question-answer pairs, case-based reasoning techniques for finding similar questions and integration of external information sources via ontologies. A real life ontology-based question-answer application OPAS is presented as a proof of concept.
