Server and Storage Landscape Virtualized and Consolidated

Overview

The company wanted to have higher IT system availability and significant reduction in maintenance costs and IT administration overhead. It also wanted SAN extension for the existing server landscape. The challenge was to have storage and server virtualization and investment protection. One of the core elements of that foundation was the integration of the two server and storage virtualization solutions from VMware and DataCore, for which the company is using two PRIMERGY RX300 servers and two FibreCAT SX80 storage systems. SANmelody (category C) from the software vendor DataCore was deployed as the storage virtualization solution. This Windows-based solution ensures distribution of information from the storage pool on the two redundantly designed server systems and can be extended simply and flexibly at any time.
