Given the complexity of customer environments that Storage Essentials Storage Resource Management (SRM) software manages, version 6.0 supports automatic discovery of popular cluster servers and allows management of other non-automatically discoverable clusters through an add-on application within Storage Essentials SRM Enterprise Edition called "Cluster Manager". It is through the combination of automatic and manual recognition that the SRM software is able to cover most of the HA and load balancing clusters that are heavily used in the market today. This white paper discusses how various modules of the Storage Essentials SRM Suite have been enhanced to support clusters from the ground up.

With increased demands on its Web hosting infrastructure, HostMySite.com needed a solution that would minimize downtime while maximizing the number of sites on a single Web farm. HostMySite.com utilized the Storage Area Network (SAN) storage solution and network load balancing of Internet Information Services 7.0 and Windows Server 2008 to centralize customer content. The new solution increased server stability, lowered infrastructure costs, and reduced time spent on administration and diagnostics.

Energy Characterization of the Stargate Sensor Network Gateway 2008-01-01 University of California

This paper presents a new energy estimation model for sensor network intermediate nodes (i.e. the Crossbow XScale Stargate). Such devices are battery powered and resource constrained and commonly employed as communication, processing, and gateway elements within sensor networks. Understanding and accurately characterizing the energy behavior of such devices is the key to conserving the battery life of sensor systems. This paper presents a macro-model for estimating the energy consumption of the device as a whole that couples estimation techniques for computation and communication.
