Swiss Post needed a solution that would work with SAP R/3 HR and other internally created applications, integrating its personnel and HR functions enterprisewide. Swiss Post wanted to collect and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for personnel management across the company. IBM Business Consulting Services created a solution based on SAP R/3 BW (business warehouse). The system is integrated with SAP's CO (controlling) module for personnel cost reporting and control. Swiss Post can now reorient its personnel strategy based on measuring personnel information against KPIs Analysis of personnel information is now easier and quicker and visibility to personnel costs and absences has significantly improved.

To improve its financial management and to meet the need to implement the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), the Commission had to change from a cash-based accounting system to an accrual-based system, a two-year project with a deadline of January 1, 2005. The IBM Business Consulting Services team was charged with implementing the new SAP modules. With an average of 10 consultants involved, the IBM team carried out the changes to the existing SAP modules and implemented the new SAP modules CO (Controlling Accounting), AA (Asset Accounting) and PS (Project System).
