More details of Microsoft's rumored dual-screen "Courier" tablet emerged last week, including a rumored ship date of later this year, according to a post on Engadget.

According to the Web site, the product will ship later this year, is roughly 5 inches by 7 inches when closed, runs a version of the Windows CE operating system and uses an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.

A Microsoft representative declined to comment last week.

In a January interview, Microsoft Entertainment and Devices unit President Robbie Bach confirmed that an earlier video was indeed from Microsoft, but refused to say where the product was in terms of development.

"We do a lot of exploratory videos on a lot of different products," Bach said. "The video that went around the Internet that was the so-called Courier is just another example of those. We do a lot of those. We don't comment on them."

Sources had earlier told CNET that Courier was one of many prototypes cooked up by a skunkworks team run by Microsoft executive J. Allard.

The Engadget post came just as Apple announced its availability plans for the iPad, which will ship on April 3, according to Cupertino.
