As many as 30 of the 50 CyberWorks' employees in Chiswick, west London, will lose their jobs, the paper said. The cuts will not affect the 400 staff at Transworld International Ltd, a television production business acquired by CyberWorks.
CyberWorks set up the London office less than a year ago to provide programming and other content for NOW, an interactive Web entertainment service, the paper said.
Last year, CyberWorks said it would cut spending on interactive Internet entertainment. Li said he would limit annual investment in CyberWorks' business-to-consumer operations to US$200 million.
